Back in the saddle after a year and a broken bone

There are two parts here I'd love to get some perspective on.

I've been without my bike for almost a year now and I'm about to start training again. I was pretty good with four solid seasons of regular training and some racing. I know how to train under normal conditions but I'm not sure how to design a routine based on a return to the sport. I understand that muscles are quicker to come around if you've trained in the past. How does this play into retraining? I've been doing about three days a week on a stationary since that's all my broken bone bone will let me do.

That broken bone is in my hand so the return to a real bike will coincide with the doctor's blessing to ride again. I'm sure my wrist and fingers will be considerably weakened and I'll have reduced coordination after having everything immobilized for two months. Has anyone had experience with this? Obviously take it slow to start with but is there something else I need to be thinking about?
