Biking good 4 the knees

Hey Hey,
i have this disease that "over active teenagers get" in my knee cxall osgood schlauter (not sure on spellling) and it cause a bump on the knee, and makes it real stiff. I had physiotherapy 4 it, and it helpps a bit, but i would just like to say that any 20 minute bike ride is better than the $40+ visit to the doc. Even if u don;t have a problem with your body, biking is much easier on it, and gives mostly the same result. This sports keeps getting better and better eh? lol well have fun everyone.

A year ago I tore the ligiment in my left knee. I asked the Dr. how long before I could bike again. After he got over the shock of the old guy bikeing he said "end of summer". The physical thearpust had me on a stationary bike in a few weeks and I was on my real bike by 10 weeks. The Dr. said "thanks for healing like an 18 yr old and making me look good". "Sure glad to help" I said. So I guess biking is good for your knees.

With your teenage knee problem i.e. while you are still growing, can you over do it? Ask your thearpust (sp?).

Well the problem is caused by "over activity" which i don;t beleive in, but my physiotherapist says it'll go away when it feels, but i can't do n e more damage. The only thing that could bother me is the pain or the stiffness (which goes away when i bike )

One of the girls on the '92 US shooting team had to quit shooting because of "over activity" She was also an arobics instructor and very active. So Maybe it is possible. I forgot what they called some syndrom.

As long as your physiotherapist says you can hurt it any more go for it. Biking makes my knee feel good as well. Oh is was a tendon not ligiment that I tore. (Not sure the difference).

I damaged something in my knee a couple years snowboarding. Wiped out and heard a nice loud 'POP'. Needless to say I didn't feel too good the rest of the day or week for that matter. I never saw a doc for it, gotta be a man, suck it up Still locks up on occasion, mostly if I kneel down for something and haven't been riding for a bit. When I do get at least 1 good ride a week the problems all disappear. I don't know that there is anything better for the knee then a good bicycle ride, even the moderately high impact down hill runs.
