Yes, they're very good. I used to eat about 1/hr., usually eaten in bits throughout the hour. Now I use other calorie sources, but Clif Bars work fine. I'm not a fan of packaged gels because of the packaging. For a gel, try Hammer Gel. You can buy it in 1 pt. bottles and dispense it into a reusable 6 oz. squeeze bottle. Much cheaper and more responsible.

They're all organic/natural, very good, and as long as you drink enough water, easy to wash down.
I eat quite a few of them, they are my food of choice on the bike for long distances.

it's not very appetising to consume gel only on longer rides, even the excellent shot bloks, but fwiw i think clif bars are the best energy bars on the market as measured on the criteria of "do i want to eat them" and "are they easy to eat quickly while riding".

To quote Fatty from FatCyclist.com: " In particular, the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut bar is delicious enough that I recently caught The Runner eating one recreationally."
And I agree - I really like that flavor.

Clif's a block from here and their warehouse is behind our office - going to "borrow" bars now (they do take care of folks in the neighborhood)! Seriously, great stuff - love the Mojo bars...

They are nasty too! I would go with a Kind Bar or Bora Bar because they taste good and don't look like toilet waste.

Bikes: looks like a specialized crux now
I eat them and love them recreationaly just because I have a high metabolism I keep one in my back pack, stay away from any of the ones with chocolate in them they tend to be kinda rough.
I tend to take one or two of the bars on centuries, but they have to be washed down with water.

The problem with Clif Bars is there's too damn many flavors and a lot of them are really good. I'm probably going to wind up stocking. On top of it, the Peanut Toffee Buzz flavor has caffeine, which I would strongly avoid during any exertion (if it's in levels high enough to have any real effect; the box suggests it's present for the purpose of being a stimulant), and it's the one flavor I really want.
Has anyone compared the price and consumption of bicycle fuel per mile vs car fuel per mile?

I love the bars. I use some Acell Gel for 'hilly' sections as a boost, and bring a few other things to have some variety, but they are a staple of my longer rides. Agreed that the White Chocolate Macadamia is really good!
