What we eat
Howdy,
This week by tomorrow afternoon I will have put in 150 miles. I did a 50 miler on Saturday and 20's Monday and Tuesday, xray and I did 20 on his tandem on Wed. Today I did a 20 and I will do a 20 tomorrow at lunch time.
On Tuesday I had exactly nothing to eat all day, usually I have stuff like apples, oranges, granola bars etc. while I work during the morning hours and I eat my lunch after we get back from our lunch time ride.
I eat a lot of pasta and white meats like fish, chicken and veg stuff in the evenings. I never ever eat breakfast but I do take a multi vitamin and a vitamin C drink (Emergen"C") every morning.
Oh and ice cream before bed every night.
So all of that said you can tell I'm not a dietary guru but it seems to work pretty good for me, my weight stays pretty constant and my energy level seems fine. So I guess I'll stay with this dietary plan for the time being.
How does that compare to you guys?

I need to get a diet going, but with college and cafe food and the array of restaurants in town, staying in shape is not the easiest task. With all the different diets going around as well you never know what exactly is the best diet, one plan somes one thing and another one contradicts it. Don't get me wrong I definatly watch what I eat and I don't just shovel it in and I work out on a daily basis but I'd like to see myself eating better.

Miso soup and green tea for breakfast, lots of things like couscous, fruit, vegetables, and granola during the day. Often beans and rice. Usually a beer or two in the evening. I eat red meat (lean) and fish fairly often. Not much chicken, but that's mostly because I apparently tend to forget to eat chicken. Lots of water, green tea, and fruit juice during the day. I tend to avoid sodas and things that seem overly processed or full of chemicals I can't rationalize the presence of in my food.
In high school, I guess I really got set in the pattern of eating like a distance runner, and haven't ever stopped. It works for me, though. I guess I see no reason to change it.

I am in the process of trying to lose some weight and get into shape for spring and summer. Here is an example of my daily eating plan (I hate the word diet).
Green tea, yogurt and fruit for breakfast. I rarely eat a meal during the day...I usually snack on granola, nuts, and fruits throughout the day. I also have a protein shake every afternoon. I cycle just about everyday as soon as I get home from work for an hour to 90 minutes then have a dinner which usually consists of a 2-3 servings of vegetables, some sort of white meat like fish, chicken, or turkey and some sort of pasta or rye bread. I don't drink sodas, just ALOT of water...at least 1 gallon per day.
