Problem on a MTB Event today
This is situation. been training and eating properly.
did a 15 km Mt bike event today.
Started out well and was able to push it good for first 3 minutes
then hit first hill. It was a long climb on the trail
i was in my lowest gear almost and spinning wildly. And HRT was up
however it was like all in slow motion. Everyone was passing me and i was not able to get speed, dispute i was pedaling fast?
would should be in a harder gear?
Also i felt like a tonne of bricks had falling on me as well
That was making me hold down and not able to push it?
thanks

Did you warm up beforehand? It's really important to warm up before mountain bike (and cyclocross) races due to high intensity hole shots, as everyone is battling for position. Obviously it could be a thousand other things, but this was the first to come to mind.

Yeah, but the warmup? You need to be on a trainer for about 45 minutes imm. before the event, including a couple hard intervals. Also possible your glycogen was in the toilet from incorrect fueling, also possible that you're overreached.

My suggestion would be to put down the bong, join a club and find someone experienced to teach you the basics of riding a bike.
You don't understand why you weren't going faster even though you were pedaling quickly?? Give me a break.
