Looking for new trainer

I am finally getting back into shape. I am more of a mountain biker than a roadie but use my road bike on my 1up trainer in the garage. I have started using it again but the resistance is very inconsistent. I recently started using trainer road and love it. I really like the idea of tacx system with virtual riding and have also looked at the wahoo kinetic. i like the gizmos, I think I will more consistently ride if I had that to look forward to. Should I get a kurt kinetic and save some money and just watch videos while on trainer road or go for one of the other two. The money isnt really an issue as long as it is a good system I will use it.

Be sure to check out the Cycleops Powerbeam Pro with the virtualtraining program. I have had mine for a month now and love how the resistance changes with the ride videos. Makes for a much more enjoyable workout and less bordom. I researched the Kickr, computrainer, Tacx, and decided on the Powerbeam. Check out Dcrainmakers reviews of all the diff trainers as they are really in depth reviews.

I can't speak for the Wahoo, but I do love Trainer Road. I use it with my CycleOps Fluid 2 and sufferfest videos. You're talking about trainers that are a lot more than the fluid 2, but with Trainer Road and a few videos I'm not sure that I would go through the extra expense. Especially if you're just getting back into it.

thanks for the replies. I actually got a new kinetic road machine, garmin speed/cadence and have been using it with trainer road. I love it. It is fine. At least for now I dont need the extra expense of the others.

Exactly my setup. It is amazing how much this combination adds to your motivation. The KK is solid, stable, and almost feels like pedaling outdoors. Trainerroad keeps you honest and let's you structure your training in a way that you could never do outside. Finally, I use Trainingpeaks to set up a plan for the upcoming months and to measure my progress.

Before re getting this combination, it was all I could do to mentally slog through 45 minutes on rollers. Now, a 2.5 hour base workout does not bother me. Whatever works!
