Crappy way to end the season

So it's not the actual end of the season. I do have another HIM in Florida in December. But I had two sprints scheduled for October out here in Las Vegas. First one was the Las Vegas Triathon at Lake Mead at the beginning of October. The second was the Pumpkinman Triathlon this Saturday, also at Lake Mead, but it's point-to-point, so it starts at Lake Mead and finishes up in Boulder City. The reason I used the weird past/present tense in that last sentence, though, is because it was scheduled for this coming Saturday. But like LVT earlier this month, it's been cancelled, thanks to the government shut down. Very frustrating. But without getting political, I will say I'm glad the right people held firm and disappointed (but not surprised) the wrong people would not make a deal. Even more to the point, I'm kind of pizzed that we need dot gov permission to have this event out at the lake. I was looking forward to using these as more training events for my next HIM in December. Oh well. I will have to do some solo training on my own, like every other day I train. <sigh>
