Ironman vs. non-Ironman events

I am wondering if anyone has experienced both events and can share observations on the pros and cons of both events?

Thanks.

Primary difference is one is a qualifier for Hawaii, the other not. Depends on your interests and goals...

Ironman santioned events can be like a circus! Others are a bit more laid back.

Thanks! I've decided to not try the Ironman events because the 2006's are all sold out (in N.A.). Wish me luck. I have so far a 1/2-Iron in September, and a 1/2 marathon in October, then on to the full-iron in November. Here's to a summer and fall full of training!
