It only gets worse the longer you're into it. I've got five bikes in my garage and three are road. I just noticed I've got three pairs of winter booties. My bedroom is filled with running gear - three pairs of shoes, probably a couple dozed pairs of sockes, a goretex suit plus a couple other winter ones, four pairs of winter tights, and probably a dozen first layer shirts.

I too have a lot of gear that I thought I needed. I bought a trisuit when I started and found myself wearing a beat up swimsuit, a ripped pair of cycling shorts and keen commuter sandals during an half ironman. I just wanted to wear what I was most comfortable in on that very hot day. I have accumulated so much that I decided long ago to give it all away. Shirts, medals, snacks, and hats will only add more chaos to my life so they are given to kids or to the rescue mission.

Nice picture, by the way. How about a dozen swimsuits--briefs and jammers-- a closet full of shirts from races, a closet full of water bottles, short bibs, long bibs, saddles, wheels, tubes, bike tools, a drawer full of goggles and swim caps, many cycling jerseys, a heart rate monitor, a strap for your race bib, Body glide, aero water bottle stuff, energy bars and gels? It goes on and on. But honestly, it is about the only stuff I buy for myself. I did get rid of most of my cycling shorts--gave one to my son and threw the others away. Also got rid of many t-shirts, as my Mom made a quilt out of them.

Dude I've been into cycling for four years. Tri's just one season. But I have so much crap. 5 bikes. Three helmets. 2 running, 2 cycling shoes. Race gear. Training gear, cold and warm. Rollers and old cheap trainer. Plenty of running gear. And now a shop at my disposal.
