Cervelo P3 or Felt B2?

Hello,

Been riding road bikes for awhile, but I'm gravitating toward more cross training and tri's. I'm ready to get a TT/Tri bike and had just about settled on the Cervelo P3.

Then I started reading a lot of good reviews on the Felt B2 and now I'm not so sure.

The price points are very close (mid 3's) but the advantage of the Felt appears to be the dramatically upgraded wheel set (Zipp Carbon 404's). The P3 comes with Velomax Circut wheels. The other major features appear to be similar (Dura-Ace 10 speed on both).

Any thoughts? I've heard that Felts are sometimes kind of hard to fit correctly. Don't know why that'd be. I probably wouldn't go wrong with either, but before spending the cash, I wanted to learn everything I could about the bikes.

Many Thanks,
David

Hey David,

Had the same situation a few years ago,so I thought I'd throw in my .2.
I too was thinking about a Cervelo,Felt..but, I ended up w/ a Cannondale Ironman,which I have done well with,especially with this seasons events(Sprint/Oly Tri's).
I would go w/ the Cervelo.
After riding one, I think it is an "Out of the Box" rocket!
I like the internal cable system, and the frame geometry suits all size/inseam ranges.
The only thing I heard was that they are too busy keeping up the demand for their bikes..so I'm not sure how good Customer Service might be down the road.
I noticed there were more Cervelos at the races this year than most bike makes..must mean something.
But!
If you are in that price range..I would test ride a Cannondale Ironman 2000, its Slice Aero frame is tough to beat.I chose them because I felt that their frame quality, especially ,the welds, is in a class by itself.
After putting in some tough miles the past year and a half, it still rides like new.Wicked fast!,especially w/ the Tri-spoke Carbon wheel I just got for the rear.And,IMHO..the wheel difference between the Cervelo and the Felts is negligible at best...only a solid disc,or 3 spoke carbon would the diff be felt.
Good luck..and remember...its still the motor that matters!

I am in the process of looking for a new bike and, since I will be training/competing in triathlons, I have pretty much made up my mind to find a good tri bike. I will be test riding some Kestrels in the next few weeks. How would a Talon or Talon SL stand up to a Cervelo or Felt?

I checked out www.missionbaymultisport.com as I'm looking for a tri bike too. Then I happen to be in Chicago so I stopped in to check out their bikes and they had the Cervelo P3-SL which has that black, powder coat finish. The whole thing is black and it looks like some top secret skunk works project. My wife had to drag me out of the store. The Felt was there too but I kept coming back to the P3. You can deal on the wheels. If I get the P3 I want the Zipp 909 tubular set. They said they would upgrade to the Zipps for an additional $995 making bike plus wheels about $5000.
