While I am no swimmer and used to agree that the ride & run were paramount. When I saw that I was giving up ten mins in a 1/2 mile swim I realized the need to swim better. I could get under 20 mins easy I think...I only swam a half dozen times prior to the race. That and a wet suit could shave 5 mins off my time......

i was kidding with the swimming doesnt matter. for a sprint i've fround that the swim can actually be important (unlike say a half ironman were you jut need to be able to do it in under 30 mins). really just start swimming more. swimming is very easy once you learn how to do it correctly. i rarely train for swimming ni oly and sprint distance's because im such a strong swimmer even without training once during the entire year i can still shoot out sub 25 min miles with ease and then do a sub hour 40 k and then get my ass handed to me by all the old people in the run. teehee o well at least the 18 and under is was im competing against and rarly are any of them mind blowingly strong
