Cyclist turned triathlete - Should I get a Garmin FR60?
So some background - I have been cycling for about a year, and don't get me wrong, I love it, but after doing this for a while I have been burnt out, most likely from doing too many rides/centuries in a short period of time. So I am taking a break from cycling.
I decided in the meantime to do some triathlon training as it has been a goal of mine to do a tri before the end of the year, and so I've been starting running/swimming the past week or two. My question is related to the gear - I have an Edge 500 that I use for cycling (and I love it, mostly), and I use it also for when I run - I put it in the Camelbak Quick Grip pocket and it works for me. However, I have been looking into the FR60 and it seems to be a more lightweight, compact alternative to having an Edge. So my question is should I get the FR60 + Footpod (~$170USD on Amazon) to improve my running (as it has the cadence ... never thought about running cadence, always thought about cycling cadence hah) or should I just stick with my Edge for my runs?
It may seem a bit trivial, asking about this so early in triathlon training, but I would just like some input. I worry that having the Footpod will not be as accurate (Even when calibrated) as the Edge's GPS, but the idea that the FR60 is much lighter and compact (and I can look at it while running) vs the Edge shoved in a pocket while I'm running does seem appealing.

But the 310XT is big... might as well keep the Edge then...!

I use the FR60 for swimming but not running. I have tried like heck but never achieved an accurate calibration with the footpod.
I highly recommend the 405 for running. It is GPS and designed for running.
For triathlon I use the Edge 500 on the bike and the 405 on the run. In a race I hang the 405 on my aerobar and strap it on my wrist at some point during the bike leg. For the swim I do not wear a timing device in a race but use the FR60 for swim training.
Incidentally I took the FR60 footpod and use it with the 405 to measure my run cadence, which is good for training. But the distance and pace comes from the GPS.

I think I may end up just sticking with my Edge 500. The Forerunner I think will not be very useful for me as the Edge does all of that, granted the Edge is not visible while I'm running, and I'd rather not spend the $250 for a 405. If I were to get a Forerunner I'd get the 110, but it would need to work with the footpod, which it doesn't, at least I don't think so?
