I have seen these studies, it is true. If you were insinuating that they were false. I can give you a resource if you would like, but only if you ask because I am lazy.

I didn't ask for them cause I'm in denial. I'm waiting for these peer reviewed studies which show how terrible running shoes are so I can weigh the facts.

I just have one thing to say. In the 10 triathlons I have done in the past 3 years I have never ever seen anyone running in their barefeet or in the vibram five fingers. I have done all distances except full Ironman distance so far. Just my 2 cents.

Well it will be a little one sided because there are no facts that show running shoes do anything to prevent injury. Except, maybe, if you step on a piece of glass.

The research:

I'll leave this for you guys to sort through: Google Scholar search for "running shoes"

I run 3- to 10-mile runs for fitness in what I guess you would call water shoes. Works fine for me. No stress fractures, bloody stumps, or injuries of any sort.
