Cheap tri bike help
I want to get into triathlons. I've been riding for a while on a normal road bike but now I want to do triathlons. I don't want to convert my road bike into a tri bike though. I have around 500 dollars to spend and I know I have to get a used bike. So if you have any leads to a good bike that is 58cm and not some Asian made bike reply to this post

You can use your road bike in a triathlon. You don't have to convert it to a tri bike.

You can use a road bike. I've past many a tri bike in sprint/oly tri's. In regard to the Asian bike... Unless you are buying the highest end carbon frame most are manufactured in asia. Good luck and have fun.

Did my first few tris on a mountain bike with big knobby tires. I wasn't fast, but I didn't post the slowest bike split either. You'll see bikes of all types at a triathlon.
Get your engine in shape first. Do a couple of races. If you decide you want to stick with it then you can save for a tri bike.
And good luck with that non-Asian bike thing.

No kidding, for $500 you are lucky if you can even touch a frame made in the USA. I think they stopped making C'dales in the US, right? So pretty much all you are left with are the nice customs, I gonna buy me an IF steel frame roadie when I gets me rich.

ill sell you my Scott frame made in the US once i pick up my new frame, its going to be awhile though.
Depending on what frame i get the bike will come with wheels,seat,frame,crankset, and handle bars.
the Shimano 105s and the brakes are going over to the new frame. so you'll need those, and a new tire & tube for the Mavic cxp 14's 650c.
I'll let all that go pretty cheap and you should have enough to buy the parts you need to get a fully functional bike. Shipping will probably suck big time though, like over 100.
