Assistance/advice organizing cycling portion of tri

I'm a recreational cyclist who was asked and volunteered to run the cycling portion of a charity triathlon benefitting our local Y summer camp. It is in early June and I am trying to plan my portion of it. My friend who asked me to take on this task has competed in Iron man events but I am a recreational rider, not a competitive one. Therefore, I'm asking for some expert advice on what needs to be done to make it run smoothly on that date. The committee has already gotten the necessary permits and permissions, the sanctioning, and the course has been planned. Local police and safety agencies are developing a safety plan so the major concerns are being addressed. A professional timing agency has been secured as well. Bike racks and directional signs are currently being made. Cones and barriers are being provided by the local Fire Police. I am specifically responsible for what occurs following the swimmers transition to the biking phase and the bike race itself. If there is anyone out there who can direct me to some great references or checklists of "to do's" I'd appreciate any and all assistance. I'm certain there are some forum members who've been down this road before (excuse the pun) so feel free to help in whatever way you can. Thanks in advance!

You need cones, markers and volunteers telling the athletes where to mount and dismount the bike. You probably need some cones to separate the incoming and outgoing athletes. In addition to the police managing traffic, you will need some volunteers pointing the racers where to turn, etc. Depending on the course length, maybe you can get an lbs to provide mechanical assistance on the road.

You may want to try posting on some triathlon specific sites. Some of the folks there may have some experience as Race Directors, and might have some experience they could share. Sites to take a look at might include:

Beginnerstriathelete.com
Trinewbies.com
Slowtwitch.com(cuation: geared towards very experienced triathletes, but they may have the most RD's to draw from).
