I just finished converting my hybrid flat bar bike to a road utility bike. I know the stem is very upright , but this bike is from comfort and not really speed.this only has about 1400 miles on it in 13 months.

Yesterday we had no snow and today everything was covered in the white stuff... used our community trike to make a run to the mall as riding was less treacherous and faster than walking.
We use it for a lot of short local trips and it often gets ridden 16-20 km on round trips as it does have a 6 speed drive and cruises along pretty nicely... swapped out the front fork and 24 inch wheel for a 26 inch set up which really improved the ride and higher speed handling. http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...ntertrike1.JPG |

This is the last iteration of my 2nd home built long tail.
I use to take my son to his Tae Kwon Do training session and my daughter comes along. There is a steep nasty hill and no way around, but we don't complain! Swaping the cranks and cassette gave me the real low gears I needed. We often stop for groceries at the organic food shop. Wheels are 700c. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=234623 I've posted a very thorough ilustrated tutorial on the build: http://pespracima.blogspot.com/2011/...sso-passo.html This was my 2nd build. It would have been a lot more difficult without Bike Forums. This thread rocks: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...uilt-xtracycle... I'd like to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed, and also to those who developed the xtracycle concept in the first place. A simple idea that makes a big difference. all the best a. |

Love the Mundo!! I'm so envious, I cannot wait until I can get back on a DF, a Mundo is on my very short list of new rides (that or an Xtracycle add-on to my '84 mtb race frame...) Followed your blog, look forward to your stories as the year progresses!!!

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=240140 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=240141 Firstly so many beautiful bikes on this thread- makes me drool! All so practical and each one with a strong point that makes them perfect for a certain application. I really hope to add another bike to our family soon. Here's my bike with my most recent upgrades and additions. If you like the weather protector/sunshade there is a page on my blog for directions on how to make it. Sorry- not sure how to make pics bigger. |
Jaye, that's a sweet ride. I didn't even know that Kona was making another Ute.
|
Update: new, wider homemade rear rack.
