It's not the actual act of hauling that is amazing here, but how the heck did he get all of those tires up that high and keep them balanced before he even started pedaling?!?

Holy cow, did you some other pictures there?

I did me some. I hope everybody clicks on the word "photos" at the bottom of the linked page which turns on a little pointer on the right side of the first picture to take you to through the slideshow. Mind boggling loads and at the same time very beautiful images! Thanks trx1 for sharing that with us!

xtrajack 09-28-10 03:17 PM

Dayum Bubba, them Asian folk don't screw around. Makes most of us and our loads look like amateurs.

qmsdc15 09-28-10 04:26 PM

Well, most of us are amateurs. They make all of us "look like amateurs".

Well, it's a trike. I suspect the bundles were tied together, and put on with a crane or crane analogue. A vertical pole wouldn't surprise me either.

Jamesw2 09-29-10 02:40 AM

things to say to the bike driver.
I want the one on the bottom.
I want a nickles worth
I believe the pix is staged by an artist. too many elements come together for it to be just a snap shot. where do you find a street with so little traffic.
That shot deserves to be in a "mu- z- em then you don't"

Sixty Fiver 09-29-10 02:44 AM

It is photo shopped... the stack of tyres does not cast the same shadow as other objects in the image.

worthlees 09-29-10 09:45 AM

I was suprised at what type and loads hauled on bikes & mopeds back in the '60s in s.e. asia.

AdamDZ 09-29-10 04:40 PM

I don't think so. If someone had enough skills and determination to do this they'd have though about the shadow. I think it's just diffused, he may be under a cloud; no direct sunlight.

Artkansas 09-30-10 07:34 AM

I don't have a problem with the shadows.

I do find that first image of the set almost too perfectly composed. That is not a complaint. I think its a marvelous picture. The two bicycles at opposing angles with that monolithic, yet almost gothic building on the far side of the wall is great. The limited palette of colors is also very strong and almost stylized.

There is a theme running through the pics of bicycle, wall and then massive buildings behind.

He's a talented guy.

And props to those pedaling those amazing loads. I'd hate to have to push one of those bikes into a headwind.

puppypilgrim 09-30-10 05:04 PM

Agree. Its chopped.

indyjanie 10-03-10 03:47 PM

Wow, makes me feel bad for cursing out my 10lb tub of kitty litter sliding around the trailer on my local hills today in the wind....

wahoonc 10-04-10 06:31 AM

Dunno if the pictures are photo shopped or not, but they do look like they have been tweaked for color and some content. However the loads in question are not out of the ordinary in many parts of the world.

Aaron :)

If it makes you feel better about your inadequacies, don't believe it's real.

garage sale GT 10-04-10 02:08 PM

How could two bike tires support most of that load? What could the pressure possibly be?

PaPa 10-10-10 11:58 PM

The creations were published in Déclic Photo ( a French photography publication).

http://www.declicphoto.fr

Here is the PDF which shows the images along with text (in French)

http://www.alaindelorme.com/PDF/declicphoto.pdf

In the pdf, many, if not most of the images, have clearly been modified.

vantassell 10-11-10 01:02 AM

Shopped or not (i'm still downloading the PDF) they're cool pictures. But something doesn't look right in them. Even if they're shopped they're still good art I think, as long as the creator doesn't try to pass them off as untouched photos.

I agree. Something doesn't look right about all of them. ********************???

The thing that grabbed my eye was it was too clean.

Aaron :)

Cyclepup 10-23-10 09:39 AM

Photoshopped, enhanced, or untouched, my favorites are the florist (Totem #8) and the (looks like) food or drink cases (Totem #4). They're simply beautiful.

echo 10-23-10 10:49 AM

Personally I like the clothesline in the background...

StephenH 10-23-10 12:33 PM

In that picture of the tires, the rider seems perfectly clean and non-sweaty. Having handled my share of tires through the years, I can't imagine getting them all stacked up like that without looking like a mess yourself. So yeah, makes me wonder if the pictures weren't staged. Reminds me also of the camper tricycle, where the project as a whole was in fact a photo project.

Cheez, how'd that guy get the ladder on his shoulder and balance his bike before setting off? Amazing!
