Not to be rude, but you don't know where I work, or how long I've worked there. I could spend all my time explaining how flawed your reasoning is, but I don't think it will really matter, and you won't convince anybody here that the Worksman is a smart buy based on this.
JusticeZero: I need to get out to N.O. sometime for a ride or something. I'll have to get with you if I get the chance, maybe one Saturday we could go ride the lakefront and poke fun at the weekend warrior tridorks like JoeyBike does!

If you want quality craftsmanship from anyone else, stay away from American made bikes.

Maybe if american made wasn't so often synonymous with rubbish, you wouldn't see that sort of statement.
Besides, in conversation with unemployed, poor Americans, I am often told that they consider factory work to be beneath them.

Once, the Mexican president said that America should be grateful for illegal Mexican immigrants taking the jobs "even the blacks won't do."
I facepalmed pretty hard (the whole world did, I'm sure); but besides the obvious, that really does reflect poorly on America's self-absorbed entitlement workforce. I've avoided fast food because standing over a grease fryer makes my face burn horribly; it's physically painful, so I won't do it. It's not "beneath" me, though; if I could cover my face with something that would protect my overly sensitive skin from hot grease vapors (seriously wtf?), I'd do it.
Americans have no pride in their work; they just want to be lazy and collect money. Factory work requires actual work, and so is beneath people; the highest valued job is sitting on the corner collecting hand-outs.

It's little wonder that you got so anal over a bit of rust when all your friends are the elite of society.

What you say may apply to most under 40 but not Americans who grew up with pride in hard work.

I don't so much care about how "your generation" thinks as I do about the people who are doing things NOW. "Grandpa Joe made the best widgets in the world!" That might be so, but his grandson Jimmy makes sloppy trash, and since Jimmy is the one who's making the widgets now, it does not matter how good Grandpa Joe's reputation for quality is.

Look at the under 40 voting crowd now. Look at politics. The liberals/democrats/whatever are the big thing today; all these people who fancy themselves "smart" think they're "forward thinking" and whatever else. They're all hippies. And what do they campaign on? "Entitlements." Social security, free healthcare, taxing (robbing) the rich to give to the poor, etc.
These are hot politics because that's exactly what people want these days: free stuff. It's not because "it's politics," it's because "people are lazy and want everything for nothing." These are the people that avoid work, that join unions and cry that they shouldn't have to do something that's "not their job," and then scream when someone else does something that actually is their job because it threatens their job security. They're the ones looking for a desk job, sitting in front of a computer, sleeping for 7 hours a day. They all want to be managers so they can tell employees to do things and then not do any work; or they want a simple job that doesn't involve doing anything requiring thought or physical effort.
Everyone who's below the bar has this vision that an office job means sitting in your chair playing on the computer all day. They all want to be business owners because they get to play golf and get paid for it. They want to be managers because they just e-mail someone and say, "Build this car." They think there's no accountability in those fields, but there is ... but then you get them into those positions and they do horrible work, and blame everyone else.
That's America. Can I go home now?

There's still a few top-quality American-made cargo bikes out there, but Worksman doesn't make them, and they're not cheap. If you want good quality for a cheap price, you get stuff made in China. If you want good quality and made in America, you're going to pay a premium.
American made, quality, or inexpensive: pick any two.

You sound incredibly whiney. No one in MY poor ass town says factory work is beneath them. Ever. Minimum starting wages for operators here is $10 an hour. That is good damn money, and no person that does the cost-benefit on this position would take a minimum wage retail dead-end position. Sometimes, reading your posts on this forum, I wonder if you are on the same planet I am.
Funnier still, for all your hard talk elsewhere, a comment about your "sensitive skin" is pretty interesting. What, pray tell, do YOU do Mr. "I only buy quality, yet I drive a Mazda 3"? Are you in a professional occupation? Or are you just another wage-slave?
