When rim brakes severely overheat, they melt the tire and then it blows off.
Supposedly, there are instances of loaded tandems going down a steep hill (mountain?) and having that happen.

Luckily, I am sufficiently turned off to the idea of rim brakes as to not have them on the bike I'll be using for this trip. Either disc or drum it shall be.

as a bit of possible interest check out this post https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ep-cars-at-bay

it gives a bit of a visual feel for what 4 foot of trailer would take up for space

Still, four feet wide IS a little large to be pulling behind a bicycle. And with that much more room comes with the very good likelihood that you will overload it with "extras" that you might not need. Keeping it smaller and compact helps to avoid that.
I agree with you on that. When I go grocery shopping with my bike with my trailer attached to it I have a tendency to buy more than I intended. When I go with my "everyday bike and use my pannier bags as grocery bags and fill them up as I shop I'm more conservative in how much I buy.

The Bushtrekka? If that is the one you mean, I have seen it, and I'm considering it. It would depend upon two factors, though:

1. Paring down what I'm going to take with me, which for the moment exceeds both that trailer's weight limit, and the weight limit of the trailer I have now combined, and
2. My finding it at a lower price than $700+ (Which, when I first found it, it was on sale at Amazon, but no longer)

Its been a long time since someone post her but i had a similar idea of a bicycle camper, found this design online and maybe with some wheels it could work.
