I have to chuckle a bit as back in the '80s I did a bike tour from CA to Ft Worth. When I got to Fort Worth I thought it was quite decidedly un bike friendly. I grew up there, and rode a bike there... but it had been awhile since I was back, and most of my time there was in the '60s and '70's, the latter during the gas shortages. I left in '74. But compared to the open road, Fort Worth just seemed quite unfriendly.
When I visit, my relatives in the area keep taking me down to Trinity Park and to the trails there... "Look we ride bikes here now..." I have to laugh.
The area is changing though. But I doubt Camp Bowie Blvd will ever be bike friendly... those bricks just make it a bit dangerous... unless you are on fat tires.

You gonna eat that?
But you can ride the area around Camp Bowie with no problems. And I ride the bricks sometimes. They've gotten better about keeping them in good repair.

Encountered on the way home from work last Monday evening, starting at about 120 yards or so away:
(In a loud, querulous voice) "RANT BLAH BLAHBLAH BIKES RANTRANT BLAH BLAHBLAHBLAH RANTRANT RANT RANT..."
(and, at 10 feet away, with a look that would have killed Gandhi) "buncha SH*T!"
I can only guess that this person disliked the creeping presence of bicycles, sharrows, and lanes in the city he deemed his own racetrack -- funny, 'cause he was WALKING in the snow.
This just seemed the place to drop this little life-experience fart...........
