Recommendations for trip to BC

I'll begin with introducing myself shortly, I'm Patrik, a young highschool boy from Helsinki, Finland, I compete in tennis as well as I cycle.
Well anyway, next summer me and my friend were planning on traveling to BC, mainly 'cause of Whistler bike park but also 'cause I've heard there are plenty of other good places there to cycle and the place looks amazing in pics I've seen. We're planning on being there maybe 1-2 weeks so there should be plenty of time for cycling.
So now I'll ask you guys, if we're heading to BC (you can recommend other places too), where should we go? Is Whistler really superior to the other bike parks and trails in BC? We are searching for a place with both downhill trails with lifts and peaceful, technical trails with both up- and downhills. Neither of us have a driving license so we're searching for a pretty "compact" place so we can avoid getting lost, having to take taxi:s too often et.c.
Less crowded places are always a plus in order to get accommodation and food maybe cheaper. And in order to get to ride in peace.
Oh and bike rentals where you could rent DH bikes would be a plus, but we would manage with out them too since we've both got 160mm fullies..

Thanks in advance!

When are you coming? Kamloops (where I live) has a City run downhill park and the resort of Sun Peaks also has some downhill courses (competition level), though getting there is somewhat problematic since you won't have a vehicle. I don't know what they're like as I haven't been on either.

City transit busses in Kamloops all have bike racks on them, with a capacity of two bikes.

Whistler is the premium downhill area with lifts, but it is quite expensive to stay in most of the village. I would suggest you communicate with the U.B.C. (University of British Columbia) Hotel (Hostel) which is up on the hillside about 2 kms. from the village center. At present, they don't accept reservations, but they can accommodate many people. I rode through Whistler several years ago on a lengthy tour, and a U.B.C. student waitressing for the summer directed me to their hostel. I found it very inexpensive, clean, and although I was in my late 40's, had a wonderful time with the students staying there....great experience, everyone helping me with my loaded bike, and storing it in a locked room.

Thanks for the answers guys, the threads title is a bit misleading but I can't change it anymore though :/ I think we're gonna at least visit Whistler, I mean if we are anyway in BC there's no way we wouldn't go there. Kamloops and Sun Peaks look tempting too but still a bit conserned how to get there, maybe we'll come 2013 instead when we actually do have driving licenses, and do a Sweden-Finland tour this summer instead, visiting f.e. Åre and Levi bike park. Thanks once again for your answers!
