Mittens for the WIN(ter)!

I felt as if my "heavy" winter gloves (for 10F-23F) weren't keeping my fingers as warm as in the past. I'm 53, so many things don't seem like they were when I was younger. Anyways, I finally bought mittens of equivalent weight as my gloves. I wear light cotton blend work gloves inside the gloves, so I did so with the mittens. I also put large loose cotton blend gloves over the mittens, as I do the gloves to protect my nose as I tend to wipe it on the back of the gloves and now mittens. I simply tucked the fingers inside the outer gloves. Anyways, my hands were not only much warmer, but, it was easier to grip the brakes. It's my old MTB-commuter with new studded snow-tires. It has rapid-fire shifters and I could work the thumb lever normally, but surprisingly the finger lever was as easy as with gloves also. This morning was 23F, so it was the upper end, but tomorrow morning they're predicting 15F, so I am excited to wear them again, although, the roads are mostly dry and there is no precipitation predicted, so I may take my non-snow commuter with brifters. I can't believe I'm geeking out over mittens.

I went to mittens for heavy duty cold weather. I have a pair of black diamond mittens with some find of insulation and a waterproof laminate. I wear them with liner gloves in really cold weather. So I can join you in geeking out over mittens,

I don't know what I'm getting tomorrow but I did ask for some camping gear. We'll see if Santa listened. What about you?

These are very loose knit gloves. And I tuck the fingers in. Wore them on this morning's ride in to the office 18F-22F on the bike with brifters. My fingers were warm, my thumbs were coldish. Braking was fine, and the "two-lever" shifts were easy. But shifting with the one smaller lever took some concentration, and often a couple of tries.

Lobster Claw Gloves are such that 2 fingers share the warmth,

but there still is the Split finger mobility for things like Road Bike shifters to be worked ..

I mostly commute, so what would really be helpful is a separate middle finger I could raise.

Shooter's Mitts then .. not that you have to make a 2A Response, necessarily,
but index and Middle finger are each separate, ring and pinky are paired ..
