Oof 1°F and 24mph wind, hope this is the last of the artic stuff after tomorrow.

I'm like a cat with water, had a painful 15 minute end to my ride the other day after getting the foot wet and pushing ahead. Soooo cold!

Forgot to say, I'm rolling on Schwalbe Marathon Touring +. Don't need studs yet here in the Rocky foothills, thank goodness. 😋

Here too in the Great Lakes. A week ago tonight when I left work my car’s thermometer read 53. Last Sat was 52 and Sunday 49. Tonight the car said 17 when I left for home, and 11 when I got here.

feel good that I got out yesterday, temps in the high 20s. saw only 1 other rider. I don't usually make a big effort to wave. but yesterday I did. cold weather riders share a unique bond, don't we? it helped that the roads were dry. gotta keep it going thru Feb & March

Well they predict 4-6 inches for us. It's coming down really well now, supposedly till 5pm. I just looked out to this, but since I've got cabin fever I'm suiting up to ride the mtb.

What face mask is this? I've been needing to buy this, I also rock the cheapie clear lenses!

outstanding!

this black balaclava was bought in 2009 or 2010 so I don't remember exactly which one it is. I like EMS, REI, Dick's Sporting Goods & my local Outdoor Store so probably got it at one of those. I had to modify it with a pair of scissors to open up the mouth area. if I remember correctly it had another piece under the nose that was just getting in the way. or it might have been a perforated mouth piece that couldn't keep up with my airflow requirements. I like this one because it covers the bridge of my nose. I use it in the worst weather

last year tho I picked up a $6 Carhartt open face unit (from a Tractor Supply Store in CT) that I used quite a bit on nicer days

10°F, but only a 3mph wind. Lots of snow already - none of this was around at 8am this morning! Easily around 4 inches here, saw a couple fender benders, everything was cleared quickly.

I was having difficulty with traction in this snow over pavement. Probably running the tires at 32psi, just felt really noodly. I started out at 40 psi and dropped them quickly once outside. None of the roads had been plowed yet.

Heh, we're getting our biggest snow so far this year, here in Pueblo. The forecast said 1-2", overall, but there's about 4" now, & still snowing.

I'm down near Providence. Did a nice 60 miles on a road bike yesterday. Just one or two damp spots, some pretty big. I turned around when it got down to 33f. It never went below 32f.

Does your weather stay pretty stable out there? Here's what the next few days are predicted to be in my midwest area:

Today 39°F
Friday 26°F
Saturday 40°F
Sunday 51°F windy!
Monday 33°F 60% chance of precip
Tuesday 21°F
Wednesday 24°F

Ho boy, I'm hoping Monday isn't an ice storm. We haven't had that yet here this year, but last year it was bad. A hard rain is also worrisome with the existing snow pack. The end of February and early March is promising 40s, so I'm excited

You guys still have snow sticking around? With a couple days above freezing we still have a good snow pack here!

bare ground but we still have piles from the plows & shoveling. I'll bet our shady bike trails still have ice but don't know for sure. raining today then we get some snow Saturday night. guess I'll keep the studs on for now

That's the official moto of the Midwest from October thru April

Got another shot of cold coming this week, we had an inch of snow here Saturday, and yet another 50 car pile up on I35 south

Today it was 50°F, I got 21 miles on the Panasonic. Hit this patch of ice doing 14mph under the bridge, it was a little over 10ft worth. Didn't have time to react, just had the hands on the bars far away from the breaks! Scared the crap outta me but nothing happened!

careful on the roads. drivers aren't used to seeing us. & the road debris & potholes will force us further into their path exacerbating the situation. that's why I rejoice ea year when the street sweepers come out (May)

You might have to reduce the size of the file. Using my camera I have to do that every time to upload to the forum.
