Toe warmer question
I tried a pair of Grabber toe warmers this morning with poor results. A few questions.
1) Do you mount the warmers on the top or bottom of your foot?
2) Do you place the adhesive against the sock or your boot/shoe?
3) Do you let it come to temperature before putting on your boot?
FWIW, I think (3) was my mistake. These things appear to need air to work and I just put it on immediately followed by my boot.
I removed it when I got to work and it heated up just fine. (in a plastic bag now, so I'll try it again on the way home).

I don't use chemical warmers until it's in the -20F range. I use the Grabber hand warmers, which are cheaper than the toe-warmers.
I put them on top of my toes with no warm-up period. I stick them in a little airtight jar when I'm not riding, one pair can last all week
going to work and back.

+1 on the handwarmers and the airtight jar. They cost less and are a little bigger. I also put them on top of my toes inside my shoes. I found that they drive me nuts if I put them under my foot. I tried to put them between my shoes and booties but they always die out on me. I start them and let them warm up for 5 minutes to make sure they work. I bought a box of them and they get iffy after the expiration date. I'm in Longmont also, if you ever want to go adventuring in the snow PM me.

I used chemical toe warmers for the 1st time yesterday. after riding for 2 hrs my feet were in rough shape. I got into a dunkin donuts for food and coffee. after about 20 minutes i remembered i packed some toe warmers in my rack trunk and opened them waited for them to feel warm then put them in my shoes. they warmed up my shoes. then I attached them to the top of my inner sock and put my outer sock back on. I was OK for the ride home. I am now a big fan of these things!
