Fenders and studs?
I seem to be having a problem with my tires shedding snow. I use marathon winters and they aren't shedding snow after it is driven on. The tires are good when used in lighter snow...under 2 inches and on slush and ice. I understand that these tires aren't the best for deeper snow, but I traded off all winter use for the occasional storm. I am just wondering what are your opinions of fenders and studs. I am running 26x 1.75 tires with planet bike cascadias. Thanks, Dennis

I don't think I understand your quesion.
your tires are good in deep snow?
your having trouble with snow accumulation getting built up inside the fenders?

The tires aren't shedding snow and the tire doesn't get enough traction. It could be the tires, the marathons are more of a road tire. It could just be that the tired don't clear the treads well because of design. No problems with less than 1.5-2 inches, just when it is deeper and driven on and loose. Sorry for the origional post being disjointed with all the typos...I didn't proofread and I am a bad typer.

ok, no problem. no there's no issue with the fenders?
about riding in the snow - from what I've read there's a practical limit to studded snow tires regardless of size or style. meaning: some conditions can't be ridden in. in fact this web site has some specific guidelines:

and since conditions are so changeable depending on temperature and road condition - you may not be able to ride today - but might be able to ride tomorrow or the day after ...
