The ice was fast and scary today!!!
I do all my winter riding on an 18,000 acre lake and normally there is 2-6" of snow that makes for a 10-12MPH ride. last week we had a little though that melted the snow on the ice and today it was mostly smooth. The speeds were between 17-20MPH. This was fine except when I would hit a bumpy section. The bike would bounce and slide all over testing my studs. They passed thanks to the 576 studs and 15 PSI but it was more adrenalin pumping than high speed down hill single tracks.

After a slushing event the ice is a lot weaker! The white ice in the above picture has a lot of air bubbles in it compared to the darker ice.
Riding around at 20mph on ice is fun, ice conditions here were even smoother on lakes in January than those you've shown.
