If anyone is planning to give this a try, take care to check the angles on your spikes when the tire is inflated. Fella I know did this a few back for the annual ice race here and somewhere during the ride the tire ate a nice gash in the fork. check your clearance careful!

Also some folk are having great success with small tiny drywall screws, with anything always predrill or the tire wont survive the first ride.

I would suggest using self-starting screws, I heard that the tips are hardened. I have already rode them on pavement and they are holding up just fine. Check out my tire on fixedgeargallery #1107
