installing spare studs
I already have a pair of studded tires. The continental spike claw 120 has 120 empty stud holes along the middle treads. I'm thinking of added some studs. Spare studs come in packs of 20 or 25.
If I scatter the studs evenly will it give added traction or is this too small an amount to make any difference? I've seen photos of studded tires on line and it seems that not every knob or tread needs to be studded.
Also, is it possible to relocate some of the existing studs from the edge treads to the center treads? Would doing this do any damage to the tire or studs?

Can't answer your 'Ifs' to make things risk free for you, sorry.
Personally, IDK , Nokian has a tool to Press studs in the tires (Off the Bike)
by Not having center line studs I'm OK with mixed Ice and dry Pavement . this tire
Nokian Mount and Ground Studded Bike Tire - 26 x 1.9 - REI.com
This one with all 240 studs. is for more completely snowed-iced over routes I Suspect https://www.biketiresdirect.com/prod...d-tire-26-inch.
I expect the price of the 120 out of 240 stud tires was attractively Lower?
