I was the only person to show up at the sponsor shop this morning at the usual time for the team ride. I will give them all grief tomorrow at the monthly team meeting because I was the one that was traveling for over 24 hours straight the day before, got into town late yesterday, and dragged my 7 time zones away jet-lagged sorry ass out to train.
At least I finished grading today.

Yes. The WAG-4 is worth the price. The pads move to the braking surface, and the centerpiece works while in the truing stand, and/or with the quick release installed.

good to see you again - I hear you are tearing things up over there. Congrats.
A good point, and a very interesting question.
I was just talking about this with a fund manager a few weeks ago - he was a bit more (much more) optimistic about the long-term implications than I am.

Interesting trend: The number of people enrolled in fixed benefit pension has declined from 60% in 1970 to 7% today. Which means that other than SSI, the majority of the US had been left to their own devices for retirement. Given the recent show of individual fiscal stupidity on an enormous scale, why is no one looking forward and questioning, at the minimum, why we're letting people borrow against their 401's and IRA's...presuming they are even investing in these instruments given the savings rate of the US has teetered on negative for the last two decades?
Hey, I'm fine. But I'm already bailing out banks with my big tax payments. I don't want to have to bail your ass out as well.
Even though I already am.
You're welcome BTW.

I've been contributing the max $5k/year to my IRA since I started my real job. I already know I won't be getting SSI, I just wish I could stop paying into the stupid thing all the time. Or at least call it what it is for me, which is a tax.

I've talked to a lot of money managers over the years. The good ones who actually understand something beyond the next Beemer payment are few and far between. Supposedly the "best and brightest" were running things over the last few years, and they managed to destroy some of the largest financial institutions ever.

Clincher wheel suggestion for a light woman who is a great climber? She's thinking of Rolf Elan or Hed Criterium. I can't help, anything light seems like science fiction to me.

What about the Soul 2.0's?
I liked the 4.0's that I used to own. Sold them to a friend that outweighs me by a bunch and he loves them too. So I think they're pretty well built.
Or you could get something that psimet could throw together

I don't know anything about the Soul wheels and I was hoping maybe psi would throw out some ideas. Maybe I should write to him directly.

My racing has hit a lull. This weekend was the first weekend I didn't place in the money - at all.
I think I need to take some time off for a bit and recover. I did 1 huge road race and 2 crits and I feel like I got the s*** beat out of me. Not to mention the fact that I had to set up and break down the crit course.
One thing I did learn: Pro-Am crits with large teams are a nightmare. The race was smooth and there were no problems with the tight racing. It was just brutally fast. The course was a 0.6 mile four corner loop with a nice hill on the finishing stretch. Plus a head wind to the finish. We had 70 minutes of racing and it was single file practically the whole way. Guys were OTB soon and I found myself holding on for dear life. Our average was just over 28mph for the entire race. Practically every time we got to the hill we had to stand and sprint because no one wanted a break to get away. And it never did.
After the race I went up to an official (someone I knew) and jokingly told them that if I ever put in for an upgrade to deny it immediately. I'm satisfied with being a 3 right now - and forever.

Broke by Rotor 3D Quarq yesterday at Roswell 3/4. The spider retaining ring broke sometime and let go at the start of the race.
I have no doubt Quarq will be very easy to deal with for the warranty. I'm just waiting for them to open today.
And open masters racing sucks. 4s should be ridiculed if they attempt to register.

Some of the fun times I've been dealing with..
The loading dock to my building. This provides "temporary" cooling, which is good because it's been in the 90s every day for the last two weeks. The orange hoses are water, the white tubes are air. It's about 83 in my office.
The valves holding the chilled water pipes in check blew up in the mechanical room of my building Friday morning. This photo was snapped about an hour after the failure and after most of the water had been drained out. No chilled water means no air conditioning, all systems down.
The water came up to the batteries in this rack, which is in a telco closet adjacent to the mechanical room. This photo was also taken about an hour after the water had been drained out. The rack held a core router for the campus, if the water went a few inches higher big portions of the campus network would have probably gone down.
So I never made it to Athens, but I am living the dream.

LAJ and rankin, thanks for the suggestions. As you have probably surmised, i've been bitten by the wheel building bug. I guess it won't be long before i have rims hanging off my wall.
Nothing beats that roasting. Meyers was funny, certainly a lot funnier than Sykes or Leno, but they were all hurling softballs.
Colbert, otoh, was hurling fire like Nolan Ryan. Best line from that speech: I believe that the government that governs best is a government that governs least, and by these standards we have set up a fabulous government in Iraq
Fixed it for you

kensuf,

Maybe you should change your handle to Nostradamus.
Best of luck repairing that mess.
