I was going to race, but I have been working like a dog on a consulting job. I'm in no shape to race and I will be "code monkey" all weekend anyway trying to get it done. All for the best anyway because I have been dealing with a sciatica issue in both legs and really need the "rest" to let the nerves heal. After a month of only doing 2 training rides per week the sciatica is getting better, but I am getting woefully out of shape.
i got nothing.

Some more data on "opening the carbs to give air to the engine"..
2x30's.
1: pr on power, into a stout headwind, 12.7 miles (25.4mph).
2: would have been a pr on power, but #1 set a new pr, into a stout headwind, then with a nasty crosswind, and finally a little tailwind. 13.6 miles (27.2mph).
me, regular kit, no shoe covers/no fancy helmet, no super fancy wheels (30mm depth, clinchers), nothing special except the tt bike.
So yeah, I'd say the fact I can generate a lot more power is allowing me to go fast enough to overcome the slight aero hit of raising the stem a cm.

You should ask Matt, he's their graphics guy. I'll tell you what though, the vapor has been a good value for the money.

3 hours of riding with team mates and some recruits - was in the little ring for the first part of the ride, but eventually gave in to the siren call of the 53..
Good riding with good folks.

Attempted 4x20' today. Got 3x20 and the last one came in pieces. However, power jumped about 10 watts for those last few. Also, third day coming off the rest week.

I...keep getting stronger.
I averaged 18.3mph on the first part of my ride...up this: https://toporoute.com/cgi-bin/bicycle...setRouteLocked
Total ride stats are 44.14mi, 3900ft of climbing, 2:12, 20.1mph avg. I will break 20mph on 100ft/mi ride soon enough!

Not a bad idea. Not sure if I would be able to go that route with all the cooking & baking my wife is doing but lately I mostly eat just fish and I would be totally OK with eating just fish and seafood.
Making a kilometer blurry
Sounds awesome. Good find. My coach was telling me that he'd like to raise mine (on the road bike) to see if that might be a result I would see as well.

by the way, it took A LOT of experimentation with food for me to identify my migraine triggers. Finally nailed it down to alcohol (particularly liquor), chocolate, and cheese. As long as I avoid those in semi-excess, my migraines have pretty much been under control. Good luck.

Alcohol, chocolate, and cheese? Noooooo!!!! Say it ain't so, please? None of these, even in excess, seem to have this impact on me.
2x20's today. Didn't hit my test goal but none of the six were under 300 this week. I'll take it.

Well…i don't really do alcohol so that's no biggie…but so far it's been a few days, and i've already made a bunch of stuff I like. Energy on the bike is different…not a lot less, just different. I feel like i am lacking top end, it could just be the detox side of of…I've been without meat and dairy for about a week and 2 days now…cutting out processed sugars is going to be that hard part.

Grats on the changes.
I went w/o alcohol December and January last year. No meat in December. We paid a lot of attention to quality food throughout. What did I learn about myself? I don't need meat everyday. It was a surprising revelation. And salad for breakfast...waaaay underrated.
Change is good.

In my experience, protein is super, super important for recovery, which allows for that top end to be there. I may feel okayish to good the day after a rice/salad dinner, but if I add steak into the equation my legs are positively tingly and feel like they'll explode from all the energy they have.
But of course it doesn't have to come from meat - protein powders, beans, etc, are your friends.

Yeah, but problem is most vegan protein powders I have tried have tasted like chalk. The best I've found so far is Proventive Harmonized Vegan Powder, Berry Flavor. It's tolerable in water but better with almond, rice, or soy milk. Has protein from five different vege sources and is low on sugar, so the carb load isn't very high.
