4hrs solo today at endurance pace...Wife is on a recovery week after Nationals and I need to get back into the swing of things after supporting her there...
Legs were feeling the hill repeats from yesterday, but felt pretty good as the ride went on. There wasn't a lot of push in them, but they could hold the pace nicely. The weather was just about perfect here, sunny, warm (verging on hot) and not too windy. Ran a tad low on water later in the ride, but a stop at a strawberry farm solved that problem.
Finished the ride off with a stop at the cafe for a latte and a mexican coke...
Feeling pretty good right now, not to wiped...which actually surprises me...
Hopefully this ride will pay dividends later as i try and prepare for Catskills...That will be interesting considering I am way behind where I was last year and I suffered like a dog then...

30 min on trainer while Junior slept. The last 5 was me watching the monitor while he started kicking and stuff. When he let out a cry I jumped off the bike.
This after a rider (the woman who lapped the field at Bethel the first week) asked why I wasn't doing 15 min at a time while Junior slept. Hm. I guess 30 min is better than 0 min.

(Three Quarters of an) Hour of Power at lunch time. 60 TSS, .77 IF
Making a kilometer blurry
Went out to try some ZCI™s. I dropped power 5W b/c of the stone last week, but that wasn't enough. Four at 300W, and I couldn't hold 250 for the next one.
Starting over again.

I've been in Tahoe with the family. I've been able to get out 2 hours every morning (from about 6:30-8:30am). I'm starting to get a little used to the elevation (the lake is at 6250'). I had a really good day today, now it's time to leave. There's some real climbing around here, bros, no foolin' around. I'm not the shutterbug that some of you guys are, but I've gotten some pretty cool pics. At some points in the road, I just had to stop, pull out the phone and take some pics. There are some amazing views here.

Nope. Just not enough time from where we were staying. I've basically stuck to Hwy 89. I've learned from past vacations that starting out the day with a 4-5 hour ride makes for an unhappy spouse and whiney children. In the end, we're here for family time, not for Daddy's delusions of grandeur (delusions of mediocrity?).

4 hours of base pace yesterday with a couple of deep digs.
set one 3 min HC PR, so i still have a little bit of pop, despite not working on my pop at all in a few weeks.
hoping to get in a good hard 4th of july ride too, mostly wanting to keep the ol FTP primed for mt evans on the 21st.

We used to have a good bunch of New Zealanders show up. I want to say they raced for Toronto Italia.

Monday - 51 minutes ez
Last night - 2:17 with 2x40 minutes mid z3. Ride was interrupted when some jacka$$ in a black pickup decided it would be a cool idea to strike me with his passenger mirror. Scared the crap out of me and by the time I realized what had happened he was too far to get his plate number. I'm surprised I was able to stay on the bike. Called the cops and told them his direction (south - on the main 4 lane highway between Aiken and the Savannah River Site, which I ironically was only on for like .2 miles) and that his mirror would be damaged but stupidly the dispatcher didn't relay that to the cop because the cop came from that direction. Gave me the typical response that since I didn't have a plate and better description nothing could be done - tried to get a report but after he kept relaying back and forth on the radio and said he couldn't find my name I just said screw it cause I needed to get home before dark. I hope the next time the guy decides to hit somebody and not stop he hits a car (cops will be more motivated to find him).
Sore but not any worse than cycling related crashes and I'm lucky he just hit my shoulder and didn't decide to go all out!

Not sure if I'd call this a training failure since I was trying something new with my 5min hill repeat...
Goal was to increase wattage by 5w each time up....Hit the first one at 256w, then 261w, the 265w. was on pace for 270w and blew-up at the 4min mark....Finished at 244w....Tried a 5th one, but again blew up at about 4min and just died...
The first blow up I think was more mental then anything and that negativity just did me in on the last one...
It will come!
