I like steve vai, but I couldn't ever get into zappa. Love the instruments, but the vocals bore me.

Side note: for anyone interested in world music or music at all, check out this awesome percussive experience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNtpq...eature=related

noxagt, ornette coleman, painkiller (john zorn's), mastodon, skinny puppy, throbbing gristle, and thrones for the rollers or ear-bud-safe roads.

schönberg, saint-saens, albinoni, his name is alive, or eyehategod for cool downs.

lots of nice artists listed. thanks for sharing.

I don't know any of those other than mastodon and only because KillerPenguin's status said that their new album makes him want to headbutt a wolf.

Stevie Wonder's For Once in My Life just popped up on my Otis Redding Pandora station......

Verdict: I need more Stevie in my life.

Any of you fellow jazz-nuts out there ever heard of the Trio of Doom?

If you ever get a chance, check them out and make sure to listen to continuum; it's absolutely gorgeous. On par with Weather Report's A Remark You Made or perhaps even Miles' Flamenco Sketches (OK maybe not that good...)

We get a few satellite radio stations via DirecTV that mostly suck, but they used to have a good reggae station called, appropriately, "The Joint"

Unfortunately that's gone now, and I'm convinced a computer is now the "DJ" - it's like elevator music now compared to what it was. Good god the music on that station sucks now.

I like The Police, and I like a lot of reggae, but the two should never, ever, be combined. Puke.

Where did "The Joint" go? Is it still on xm/sirius radio? Anyone?

I am also appreciating the giant middle finger to their tween fanbase. Do you like Caribou? His 2007 album Andorra was mostly psych-pop (also very good) but on Swim he's transitioned perfectly to watery dance/electronic. I think I've listened to the whole thing three times between last night and today.

I like it...kinda reminds me of this though, not exactly but as soon as I heard the riff this is what came to mind for some reason.

Not sure what it is but I hear it. Completely sucking in Ableton Live for a couple hours has completely renewed my appreciation for the business.

Yeah I can't really put my finger on it but the synth has the same kinda 'hook'. Most of this stuff reminds me so much of mid 80's music.

A friend just turned me on to Explosions in the Sky. Instrumental, no lyrics to get caught up in. Great for those longer tempo/endurance rides.

On the trainer this morning, I drowned out Robbie Ventura's voice with these guys:

Someone has bumped Daft Punk at every WCCC collegiate race i've been to for the past three seasons in the parking lot.....

If I haven't heard "One More Time" by the time I hop on the trainer than I usually blast it from the car myself

I wish I could have done more collegiate events. That was the biggest issue in not having a team here, and not having the interest to field a bigger group of people.

you can race collegiate in graduate school... as long as you're a fulltime student.
