I don't think it's a big deal. I used Looks when they first came out. Then switched to Speedplays more than 20 years ago.
Using the Look Power pedals earlier this year, after a handful of rides, I could get into the Looks virtually as fast as Speedplays, without looking.

just come in from behind and slide the front of the cleat into the front of the pedal first.
And decent proprioception doesn't hurt.

I ride Looks and have a harder time clipping in when I'm actually looking at them than I do when I am looking up the road. I would think anyone who has ridden enough to want to race would have that down.

Only time I ever seem to have issues clipping in is when I'm riding with friends and making an ass of myself is par for the course. Never had an issue at the start line. /shrug

That would be me. There's not a good answer for a power meter on a tandem. This has the potential to be one. So, I'll take my chances, having already had a failed "beta" tst with Look.
Absent special circumstances, I'd definitely stay with a Quarq or go to an SRM.
At $1700, I don't see a compelling case for Garmin, particularly not until it has some track record.

^no. i think their on on the same level of inconvenience. i usually wear plastic or latex gloves to touch the chain. quarq riken on my road bike is just a ratcheting torque wrench and hex to take off/put on, so it's pretty ez. I have a DA with SRM on my TT bike, it's a little less convenient in my opinion because it requires multiple tools for the pinchbolts and for the lock ring, but not difficult.
and trust me, my mechanical aptitude/patience is low.

In a road race or a slow crit with wide streets and plenty of room to move up, no biggie. But at something like San Rafael crit p1/2's, there is no room for coasting at the whistle.
Of course nobody here is guilty of this - just like bad driving.

Making a kilometer blurry
Well, I turned down the job offer. I've just got too good of a thing going with my current company. Surely things can change in a hurry, but for now, I'm happy to stay. 5 years ago, if you'd have told me I'd turn down an offer like this one, I'd have said you were crazy. Crazy that I'd get an offer like this, and crazy that I'd say no. Some things are more important than money, and I decided not to use this offer to leverage more pay in my current position -- I'm more than fairly compensated as it is, and that's not the kind of attention I wish to draw from new executive leadership...
Plus, I beat them over the head with a huge offer from eBay/PayPal a couple years ago, and don't want to develop a pattern.
Anyhoo, first wold problems, I know.

isadorah didn't get the directorship I mentioned some time ago. corporate politics. she had an interview earlier today. That interview morphed into a same day second interview with the VP. That's occurring as I type. Could use this; she both personally and professionally, and we as a family. Good vibes are appreciated.

Good luck Gary ... I'll add some positive vibe since I had my review after being at my new place for 6 months. Went really well, getting a few % increase, and no downside. So far so good.

If you have nice shoes, you should tell him you'll put your feet where ever you damn well please. (depending on how much you favor your job)
I've seen the CEO of our company kick back, throw his laptop on his lap and put his feet on his desk before. I'm happy I work for a small private company where just about anything goes. I just wish the pay was more.

However like many things in life, this is just a stepping stone and a great one at that.

I work for a gigantic employer where not everything goes and the pay could be way more. My salary has essentially been stagnant since I started working here after college in 2010.

Nice bit of occam's razor there haha. That's like guessing necrotising fascitis if someone comes in with a purulent lesion!
Maybe he just needs to stretch more. I honestly think that chiropractic without actually strengthening/flexibility exercises are useless. There's something in the kinetic chain or structure that's causing the instability. Adjusting it won't make it go away.
I have to say, after living in Nashville for a while, the salaries up here in our field are WAY better. Presumably that's because of a combination of factors, competition between all the different employers for good talent being a big one. I have an offer on the line which is pretty much at the entry-level end of the scale, really more appropriate to a new B.S. not a Master's degree holder, and it's still more than I've ever made. And the thing is, I'm holding off on jumping on it because I'm just now realizing that my experience could potentially get me another 10k on top of that! It's pretty crazy to me.
I'm honestly not complaining... Much. I make in the mid 30's and I get overtime, but I'm 24 with a bachelors degree.
I think that's par for the course for people doing clinical research with a bachelors in non-industry sponsored trials and not working for industry/consulting. My salary would have been 10-15k higher if I was doing basic research for industry.
Like I said, my salary potential isn't going to be on the horizon for atleast the next 8-10 years. That sounds crazy now that I say it. Holy moly.

Yeah, and more specifically, pain in my lower back around my hips. Thanks, I'll keep that one in mind.

Suck!
One great tool that's cheap and wonderful is the tubular bandage. I use it with the nonstick pads caked with neosporin. Works great. Love the Tegaderm too, with weep holes though! One time the weep holes dried up and clogged, and I had to pick the dried bit out like boogers.
