The numbers are similar to when I rode in Hurricane George in Florida (50 / 80). Epic ride. Especially considering the only wheels I brought there were my Specialized TriSpokes aka HED3.

A while back we were discussing negative TSBs. An excerpt from this article gives a glimpse into what the pros endure:
...Boaro begins his early season racing in February with the Tour of Qatar and follows this up with a particularly heavy schedule in March and early April. He starts one of his favorite races, Tirreno-Adriatico, in early March with a CTL of 154. This race gives him a bump in fitness raising his CTL to 173, but also creates fatigue, pushing his TSB to an extremely low negative 79.

Per usual weekend custom today is 5-5.5hrs endurance @ 220-230AP, and tomorrow is the same. At least it's sunny out.

I had wanted to do a group ride this morning (first in months), but I forgot to set an alarm and slept in like 45min too late.
D'oh!
I guess I'll head out for 3.5-4hrs of mid-z2 AP, and maybe hit the hills a little harder or something.

That felt pretty damn good. Avg power was fairly low at 180w/64% (compared to 195w for the same duration on Tuesday), but I hit it hard a few times:
4' at 120%, a little under half-way in
6' at 109%, 2hrs in, and
4' at 116%, near the end,
None of which were too difficult. In fact, I felt pretty good towards the end of each effort, like I could motor longer, but I ran out of road (stop lights etc.).
Good sensations. I'm looking fwd to a more steady tempo ride tomorrow, which should net me 90min of z3 in the 230-240w range.

3 hours of recovery, supposed to be a climbing day but my legs just did not have it so I took it easy to fight for another day.
If you guys have a hard day scheduled and the legs are wiped out, do you give it a go or just bag it for another day?

A*shole tried to right hook me pulling away from a stop sign. Argued with him at the stop light a couple hundred feet up the road, where he unsurprisingly declined my offer to go discuss it in detail at the police station a half mile up the road.
New pr's for everything under 20s power though.*

If your legs are tired I would question why you would do three hours of recovery. One is plenty. The idea is to reduce stress, not replace it.

I'd kick it into high z1 at most and spin around for an hour or two, at most. I'd think 3hrs at recovery pace is likely counter productive...it's still like, 3hrs of exercise. The times that I've not been able to hit my numbers I abort and ride directly home, which usually winds up capping the ride around 1.5-2hrs tops.

I would do as you did. I'd do the route or the hours, make them enjoyable. Minimize stress.

Was late to the big group ride, but did tempo while chasing them and latched on at the turnaround.
Had a bit too much excitement in the final sprint, when my wheel came out of the dropout as I was going full-gas.. guess I didn't tighten it enough this morning! Luckily nobody plowed into me at least.
Then tacked on 2 more hours to make it 4.5 hours total, 244 TSS. "Only" 14 hours for the week so far, but more in store tomorrow.

One could argue that, if training was the bigger goal, minimizing TSS would be the the better call. Of course that is going to be highly circumstantial.

Little over 3 hours today Zone 2 & 3, big gear climbing and some form sprints. Avg power 260, felt really good. Tomorrow heading out for Sunday Worlds ride, which is always a fast one, but depends how early people want to start turning the screws

Coached an intrasquad (2 gyms) meet for the kids I don't coach anymore, so didn't have much time to ride this afternoon. Did a dozen or so 1100 watt jumps (5 to 15 seconds per sprint) and a 20 minute threshold climb followed by another handful of short sprints.

That doesn't sound like a big range to me. My peak variability is at least 200 watts
