yeah.

as per usual, for me it was a matter of too much too soon --> overuse injury

I was feeling good for dressing right for the cold temps...until it started pouring rain. That's when I bailed on my ride.

cold by itself isn't too bad...but cold + rain is tough. i'd actually rather have cold + snow than 40F w/ rain. cold, wet shoes = no bueno. hard to ever completely eliminate water in the shoes in any kind of rain if you are out for long enough.

It was 33 (see what I did there?) when I left for my PT appointment. Should be about 50 when I get a chance to ride. Gorgeous day!

Currently doing some upper body work at home, 4x circuit of: pushups, pullups, dips, planks on all three sides. Later this afternoon I'm going to head out for 1.5 hrs of primarily z2, with a couple VO2 climbs thrown in.

In the meantime I am cleaning, doing chores, configuring the new PC that I purchased, and hanging out until the gf gets off work. Then it's over to her place for a proper NYE celebration! We're throwing a party.

Today is a good day.

2 hours, 50 F, light rain, solo mid-Zone 2. Wearing a wind shell and not rain gear. Not fun.

Still on vacation at the in-laws, tried running for the first time in years on the treadmill (a nice nordictrac commercial we gifted them when we moved back east). I don't know much HR zones for running, but I was pacing 10min per mile at endurance 147bpm and 8 per mile at 162 with effort to spare. Unfortunately my past running history involved multiple nagging injuries so I'm wary of going down that road again

First ride in a week. Sick and ate nothing 2 days ago, and ran out of energy on today's 80 mile, 7500 ft ride near the bottom of the final 2000' + climb. Mashing in the 34/28, oh yeah lol.

Chilly day, low 40s I think. Everyone was all bundled up, we could hardly recognize each other haha.

Now I know I'm not doing the New Years Day hill climb!

If you are sick, why are you riding 80 miles?

Dr. revchuck's prescription: sleep late, then do alternating munching, sipping and napping intervals.

Took a day off the bike today, only about the 5th one this month I think, because it rained all day... I'm a wuss. The rest will be good for me and help me build I think.

I started riding Nov 1 and had 46 hours November and 58 December, over 1,000 miles. I swear a couple days off has to be good, right?

It's not about right and wrong, it's about you figuring it out. To say more would involve unsolicited advice.

Ended up doing the 2x8 ftp test last night. I have typically done a 20 minute, but I really don't want to do it on the trainer (and have always done the 20 minute test outside). The 8 minutes x2 was bad enough, and I felt like puking after each interval. I realize it may not be as accurate as a 20 minute test..but at least now I have something to work with instead of the number I had guessed at ~2 months ago.

Trainer Profile | 8 Minutes of Misery...x2 | Times and Records | Strava

2.5 hours of Zone 2 with a friend today. Trying to find some time to get out for 2 to 2.5 hours tomorrow as well.

Ok then, you weren't right, but I sure as hell wasn't either lol.

Actually felt quite good after expelling the day's food, and, a little at a time managed a half bowl of cereal, half chicken salad sandwich, 4 chicked bbq meatballs, many random snacks, and a small bit of champagne at midnight. 9 hours of sleep later and I feel pretty good. Gonna go out for an 80 mile ride today... jk, maybe 20 miles easy or something with a coffee stop halfway haha.
