Anyone doing the Tahoe Nationals in June?
I'm driving support for a pre-race May 14 (Thurs) with a few fast kids on this course 2015 USA Cycling Amateur Road Nationals 124K Road Race Course - A bike ride in Placer County, CA
Which overlaps with the U23/Cat 1 course 2015 USA Cycling Amateur Road Nationals 167K Road Race Course - A bike ride in Placer County, CA

If you want some wheel/feed support and rider company let me know. The plan is to start at 10:30 - same time as the 17-18 RR, feed only at the race feed spots and go non-stop other than mechanicals and maybe 30 sec feed (there is just one of me).

I'm not racing, but with it being so close, I'll prob head up and check out the crit. They put together such a short course, should make for some fun watching.

and the TT course is waaaaaay more mello than the facebook would have led me to believe. the rumors suggested 60 mph descents, but the course appears to be pretty darn flat.

I'll be there, but just for the crit most likely.

Anyone have a link to the crit course? I scoped it out on gmaps but didn't see any actual maps of it. Looks pretty technical woo hoo!
@Doge good luck to your kid!!

How badly do you want a drone video of your race? By these guys?
This was Chico: Chico, California's Aerial Photography Experts Distinct Perspective
This was Sea Otter – last week: Chico, California's Aerial Photography Experts Distinct Perspective

My motivation - make it worthwhile to come out and shoot.

I won Modesto as a 4 last year, was a good time for me. Tons of bots dots on that course, but I like that type of course (figure 8/shared corner).

How is Mt Hamilton RR? That is the next morning after the ITT in Lancaster. Easy 4-5 hours away.

Modesto RR is totally flat. It can be windy though and if you're caught out in the wind it can hurt. If you get gapped at a cross wind to tailwind turn it can hurt. I was spinning out trying to catch back on in a tailwind section last year and it wasn't fun.

Brutal. It's a mostly steady 20 mile grind to the top, then technical descent, then rollers that slowly gain elevation, followed by short climbs and more rollers. The last part is mostly down hill. It's usually hot, and can be windy.

have you seen the actual course? i didn't see anything official.

if it's what i think is most likely, it's really out and back on mostly flat roads. there's a chance i may show for it (if it was sattley i would have been 100%), but there's also a stage race in oregon that weekend.

USAC Site is updated with course maps now:

2015 Amateur Time Trial Courses - USA Cycling

The early talk I had heard from locals was that the course going to include a climb and sketchy descent with strong cross winds. The posted routes look a bit more tame.

I was hoping they'd have taken more advantage of Tahoe ... at least for the TT. Have start house and finish in Tahoe City then head south along 89 for an out and back course.

Same course they used for Tour De Nez a few years back. Moninger lapped the field in the rain.

Not going to happen. There's a huge amount of tourist dollars going through there in the summer between the rafting companies, Squaw, and Alpine. And hundreds of homes up each valley.

I booked a room at Northstar long before I knew the routes. This worked out well. I also booked a room on the course in Richmond. Call me an optimist.

I'll be at Cat's hill trying to not get dropped in 35+. Dropping is likely.

I think they combined our field. I'm actually in the 55+, even though it's not officially listed. I have a podium girl lined up, and several boxes of expired and obscure sport gels to give out to the winners. I actually have a good history at that race (1/4/4) but, like with investments, past performance is not an indicator of future performance.

If we end up in Offthebackistan, I know a good bar.

Cat's Hill E3. Closest race to home the whole year! Fun course too, but I'll probably run out of gas at the top of the final climb like last year.
