How to find a lawyer?
I got hit by a car-service car a week ago, and the driver / owner of the service are flaking out in providing me the info I need to get medical coverage and in paying for the damage to my bike. I think it's time to get a lawyer involved - does anyone have any advice in how to find one?
Thanks!

One source is the lawyer referral service of a local bar association. The number for the service of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York is (212) 626-7373. The web site is https://www.abcny.org/pub_reg.html.
There might be other bar associations in New York that have similar services.

If you have a personal auto insurance policy you may be alright with medical bills. Look into if NY is no-fault auto insurance, I think I remember it is from my own investigations of a recent accident in Pennsylvania. In this case, your auto insurance would pay for your med bills up to the policy limit. Although if you dont have a car insurance policy (good chance your not driving a car if you're living and biking in NYC), I don't know what to tell you.

Thanks, all! My understanding of NY law is the car-service company's No Fault insurance will be responsible for paying for my treatment. Trick is, the car-service people are refusing to GIVE me that information - the driver wasn't carrying a card, and they've been dodging me ever since... A co-worker has suggested getting the NYC Taxi and Limo Commission involved, since they license car service companies... we'll see how that pans out! Worst-case scenario, my personal health insurance will cover it, but since there's a maximum per year they'll cover and I expect to be getting a surgery this year, I REALLY want to avoid that if I can...

I've spoken again to the driver - I can't tell for sure, but I think he's legitimately interested in taking care of me... he's got a serious case of the flu, which he's using as an excuse for why it's been a few days since I heard from him. It also looks like the T&LC may be able to help me get his insurance information; they've indicated that they will provide me with his records if I make a written request by fax, which I'm going to do in the morning.
