Bicyclists have killed 2 pedestrians in 2 months in New York City
'A rushing cyclist mows down a woman in Central Park in September, killing her, the second bicycle-pedestrian death there in two months. A citywide conversation ensues, rich with ranting, about the bicycle menace.'

I'll be interested in seeing how Chicago's Argyle Street redesign works out. It seems counter-intuitive, but I guess that doesn't automatically make it wrong.

https://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/13/op...lkin-here.html Reading the editorial it also said:
Even as cycling has exploded in the city, fatalities are low, and the rate of pedestrian injuries caused by bikes is declining. The real threat, as ever, is cars. Bicyclists have killed three pedestrians since 2009. Drivers killed 178 pedestrians and cyclists in 2013 alone.

Wow I wonder if charges will be brought up on either cyclist?? Clearly they had to be going faster than some speed limit of some kind.

I believe that mostly what will happen is that drivers will avoid that area because the speed limits are low and the prospect of sharing the road more equitably will be unpleasant when more car-friendly alternative streets are available.

So it'll act as a de-facto ban on cars. That doesn't sound bad at all, as long as we're nice about it and give cars somewhere to go.
