To and from work confente is it real
Hi guys! I'm not a big cycling person but I have recently picked up an old velo bike to ride to and from work... It's not exactly what I wanted so I was thinking of moving it on. My question is, what's it worth?? It's in pretty rough shape but would look great with some light restoration. It has alloy velocity rims, pista 165 cranks, nitto bars and suzue hubs. If it's junk I might just hang it in the shed as is. Thanks in advance guys!

Its a quality race bike from the 80's. Maybe from the 70's. Its worth something to someone but I' not expert enough to put a figure on it. What will make this bike worth something is the quality of the tubing used to make the frame. There should be a little sticker on the seat tube somewhere stating the tubing used. Posting a picture of this sticker would be helpful.
EDIT: OK, I now see the brand name which is Grand Prix. From what I can make out this is a shop brand which is common in Melbourne, not a high end brand. Its going to come down the the tubing used. Still its a proper single speed frame which are popular again so its still worth something to someone.

Hi Anthony thanks for the info, I thought I had it figured as a colner??? I would like to get rid of it if it's worth something but if it's only junk I'll do some mods and ride it to and from work. Any rough idea on price or what I should start an eBay listing at? Thanks again mate!

Its all going to come down to what the tubing is. The better quality tubing the more it will go for. You can do your own price research on eBay. First do a search for steel fix bike or something like that and when you get the results you can choose the "completed listings" option and see what prices people are getting.
I guess that it could be worth somewhere between $100 to $200. It just depends on what someone is willing to pay for it at the time.

So I got in contact with gran prix in Melbourne and they said they most likely didn't manufacture the frame. On closer inspection I could see old scratches/ missing paint under the stickers so I figured last owner had put them on himself. Not origional. I have given it a bit of a clean and has come up pretty good. Not going to paint it, instead getting colner sticker set off ebay. I can see the remainder of a yellow colner sticker on the seat tube. Thanks for the help guys!
