Best grease?
I'm honestly at a loss for what grease to use. I will need to service my cruiser soon and I can't find my old grease. I don't honestly know what it was, just a white tube, unmarked, clear red grease. I know what I used was good for the heat of phoenix, and it seems to be ok at -10 up here in alaska, but I know it's time to change it since it's Been in the bike for 4 years now. Anyone know a good, long lasting grease that performs well through a broad temp range?it gets to -35 regularly in winter here, and up in the 80s-90s in the summer

For red clear grease I use KP Industries Heavy Duty Multi-Purpose Lubricating Grease, Lithium Base. It says, "All season grade for automotive, farm, industrial and cruiser bicycle applications combining high temperature characteristics and water resistance with excellent low temperature pumpability." (I made up the cruiser bicycle part. )

Bicycles are a pretty low-demand application for grease, so just about anything will work. I like white lithium grease if only because the color makes it easy to see when it is contaminated and needs to be cleaned out.

Last time I bought Finish Line's Ceramic Grease because I'm a sucker for shiny gold labels and words like "fluoropolymer". The texture and color are weird, and I probably will move to a different offering next time around. Maybe Park's new HPG-1 High Performance Grease. I've also in the past been happy with Finish Line's Premium grease, which is less expensive than their Ceramic stuff.
FWIW, Park Tool's new grease is rated to -20F. I couldn't find a rating for the Finish Line stuff.

Not sure Vaseline would work but I'd try it if walmart ran out of the blue (marine),red, brown, black, or white grease first. Oh, in that order.

second for the big tub of the transparent red heavy duty grease from walmart for like $4, it's awesome and you can use it basically on anything. it holds up super well, better than the white lithium stuff in my experience. plus you can use it on just about anything, on or off the bike.
I have also used coconut oil in a pinch, and it smells great too!

Every few years I go to Candian Tire and get a $6 tub of marine and trailer grease. There is usually tonnes left over, but I replace because the tub gets broken and too many contaminants get into the grease. Marine & Trailer Grease | Canadian Tire

My wife or kids by me a tube of Park grease every Christmas, so I use Park. But pretty much any water proof grease will work.

I use Marine Grease, because it's so hard to get off of everything.

I use Lubriplate EMG (electric motor grease). It works and it's not over priced. Any automotive grease will work for our applications. You will need to research the temperature limits of what ever you buy.

+1, Marine grease, aka Boat trailer wheel bearing grease . still using the same tub I got decades ago, so a bargain, too..
[doubt] do you ride this cruiser 365 days a year in Fairbanks AK?

My LBS had a tub of Phil Wood grease (green by the way) & I bought it knowing that it has a very good reputation. All three of my operating bikes now have it in several of their bearings; no bearing has seized as yet ;o)
If I were to 'do it over', I would buy a similar tub of Red Line synthetic grease. Why, you might ask; because I have a personal regard for the honesty of that company (I did some testing with them a couple of decades ago).
A cautionary note:
Keep your grease clean!! My favorite LBS uses Phil Wood grease. But, but, But --- the mechs keep an open tub on their benches and use an acid brush to apply it --- I'd never let them grease any of my bike parts!!
I keep my 'tub' of grease sealed and only open it to replentish my small grease gun (do a google search). I do all that is reasonable to keep the grease CLEAN, sorry, didn't mean to YELL ;o)

I would second marine grease (I use it on my commuter bearings and a lotof other places) but the OP did say Alaska. I would check to see if it is viscous enough ot use after sitting out in (edit: I missed the temps in the OP's post) -35F. Marine grease will have no problems on the hottest days. Bikes never see engine or boat trailer hub highway speed conditions.

Marine grease; the same stuff I use for the feathering prop on my boat. I figure if it lasts a season underwater, it's going to stay in my hubs for a while.

I use Park Polylube on contact points needing greased during assembly, and ProGold EPX on any bearings.

Marine grease is good if you do wet weather, it is made for that.
I use Mobil 1 synthetic grease, don't know if it is water proof, but I like a tub of it hanging around. Marine grease is hard to find in the tubs where i live, and i may just change over to that.
Edit: just checked mobil's web site and they claim: Withstands the effects of water washout from heavy rain storms or other high water wash events.
Anyone know if this synthetic grease equals marine grease?
