Derailleur cage hitting chainring.
I'm currently building up my '89 Team Miyata frame with some Campy parts I had laying around. I'm having a problem with the front derailleur - it's hitting the tips of the teeth on the big ring. I have the derailleur positioned all the way at the top of the braze-on but it's still hitting the teeth when it swings out. This didn't happen when the frame was built with Shimano 600 components on a 53t ring. Now the campy stuff is hitting on a 52t ring.
What are my options here? I really don't want to have to buy another Campy derailleur. Should I file out some space on the braze-on so I can mount the derailleur higher?

Are you sure that front derailleur wasn't intended for a compact (50T big ring) crank? Campy made compact-specific fd's for a couple of years.
If your mounting tab is truly brazed (or glued) on you really have no choice but to either: 1) file the slot higher, 2) use a different fd or 3) fit a smaller large chainring.

I wound up filing the derailleur hanger. As for the questions, it's a triple FD with a triple crankset. The FD is a 9-speed era veloce so I doubt it was designed for anything other than a 52/53t ring. Also, this stuff came off a wrecked Bianchi Eros that did not have this problem.
