Dura-Ace 7800 front brake won't fit Cannondale Supersix front fork

I recently purchased a 2010 Cannondale frameset to build up with my old dura-ace 7800 group. The front brake that I have fits through the hole on the front fork, but it is too short to catch the backside to tighten it. Yes, I am sure that this is the front brake and not the rear. Do i need to buy a new brake or can I simply purchase a longer piece to switch out that can go through the fork? Thanks.

The recessed nuts for this type of brake are available in a variety of lengths so all you need is a longer version. Any bike shop should have a suitable length.

I had the same problem with a D-A 7800 front caliper and a thick fork on a bike that I built. Even the longest rivet nut was too short. I ended up making a custom long one out of two shorter ones, a stud, and a couple drops of loctite red (on the stud threads).

Easy to do if you've got a drill press and a hacksaw blade or a drill, vise, and hacksaw blade.

Here is Loose Screws web page for recessed nuts. Note they sell them as long as 30 mm which should reach through almost any fork crown.
