New Silca chuck gasket - your experience

I put a thumb chuck on my trusty Silca floor pump because it was too hard to pull off with air in it. Today the hose just blew off the chuck and in the process of seeing what else was available on the auction site, I saw a Silca Super Presta pump listed at US $399. Couldn’t believe it, but a few minutes showed me that not only does Silca have a pump with a suggested retail of $499, but this fine company has moved to Indianapolis. If you already have your campy corkscrew, this may be your next purchase. For those of us on a budget, the stainless steel (vs brass chuck) may satisfy your lust. And it's about the same price as the brass chuck.

But this post is really about the new gasket. It is a synthetic elastomer that has been redesigned for a better seal. What is your experience with this seal? Is it still hard to pull off, or should I release pressure by loosening the schraeder adapter first?

Do you spit some "nature's best" into the chuck gasket before pushing it onto the valve?

The new Silca pump and ownership has had a lot of discussion on other forums. Andy.

1) dont push the chuck on too far , there is a smooth band in the stem right under the thread for the cap.

that is a very good air seal , don't push it past it (gasket lasts 'forever' then, too)

im still using a 30 year old pista pump I was overdoing the push it on too far, myself ,*

bought several spare black rubber gaskets .. once i had my face palm D'oh moment it was all easier.

*( pretty common machine practice, to have a blank band beween 2 thread sizes and types )

this is a similar one in urethane .. EVT | Urethane Pump Washer

yea I heard someone bought out the venerable Italian Company ,

now they have a product cost posh enough for the other people that buy out companies
and sell out the loyal employees and close the old factory.

though https://silca.cc/ gets to a different place than https://silcapompe.it/
