Just curious, OP (ClarkinHawaii), what's situation that requires you to be able to replace any spoke at a moment's notice? Are you supporting a ride or club or something?

Just finished up with Danscomp--they are making the order good with no questions asked and no expense to me. As I said to them:
"Thank you. Your ordering system (for spokes at least) is a nightmare
but your personnel have all been great!"

yeah, the instructions sheets that came with my Hozan c-700 specifically say "applicable spokes--stainless steel and steel". But it's good to know what you mentioned in case somebody in the future tries to sell me an old head that's not good for stainless steel. Thanks!

One of my feedbacks says "I have already recommended you to friends since you seem so very knowledgeable." 3 guesses where I learned 99.99999% of what I know . . . Mahalo, Guys!
PS--the Foodbank accepts mail-in donations so you guys in snow-land can mail them a big check and it will feel just like you are taking a vacation here! Well, almost.
New Shimano Wheelset for Christmas?

I'm in the process of reinventing myself as the go-to wheel guy for Central Oahu and the North Shore. All profits are donations to the Hawaii Foodbank, which really needs the bucks as 1 family out of every 5 used the Foodbank last year. Once you get out of Waikiki, there's an amazing amount of poverty here. Something useful to do in my "Golden Years"

As for me, my wheel building business is a 100% commercial enterprize, all profits to my favorite charity, me.
As nice as it might be to do something like you're doing, I'm afraid I must sacrifice the warm fuzzies it would give me as I depend on it for income, being semi retired from my primary vocation.

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

I'll pack it a plastic bubble envelope. Please open it carefully, fill it with Hawaii's warm air and some spirit of the season mail it back to me.

Clark, email me your address. I'll send you 10 bottles of Chain-L to sell and donate to the food bank. That should raise about $100.00 or more. (one place I donate to charges $20.00, $10 for the oil + $10 because it's a fundraiser -- the whole $20 is donated)). If you ask people to pay $10.00 + whatever they feel they wish to add, you should be able to raise more the the $10.00.

You know, to be honest with you I bought some Chain-L from you awhile back just because you seem to be a good guy, but I was really skeptical about the price. Just checked my log and it was over700 bike miles ago and the chain is just as quiet and smooth-shifting as new. I can give prospective customers a personal testimonial.

WHOA! What a nice gesture. I'm going to take you up on it! The Foodbank people say every $10 donation makes it possible for them to provide 25 meals, so you just fed 250 people. Think about that when you are lying in bed about to go to sleep tonight and you will feel all warm and fuzzy! Thank you!

Excellent advice--Unfortunately, though, people are kinda jaded since there are so many grifters using charity as a scam. One thing I would really like to stock is the Bike Peddler Take-a-Look mirror, because I use it myself and will not ride without it. I ferreted out the guy's email address, but he won't even respond. My gut feeling is that people will be more responsive after they get to know me than if I just hit-em-up right from the get-go (Texas-isms, there).
