Bottecchia Carnielli Information
When I was growing up my family was always riding bikes. I remember my father had a big green road bike with a kid's seat over the back wheel. My dad used to let my brother and I take turns riding around the neighborhood with him. Years later I found out that the year my father bought the bike he took it for a 3,000 mile trek across Europe. I'm 34 now and a few years ago while visiting my parents I stumbled upon the bike in the garage. It is in great shape and I took it to a local bike shop to get it back on the road. If anyone can give me any more information on this bike or point me to a place that I can get original equipment for it, it would be greatly appreciated! I would love to find the original frame pump!

Hello cmdavy,
Welcome to the forum and thank you for sharing your bicycle and its story.
Looks to be an early 1970's machine from the "boom" era.
There is some company history and product information here. They produced bicycles under both the Carnielli and Bottecchia names.

Do a Google search for Bottecchia Bicycle and it will lead you to some history on the brand and some pictures. Search this site for Bottecchia and you will find lots of posts. What you have there is a mid-level Bottecchia from the early to late 1970's. Not a Professional and not a Giro d'Italia. It appears to be in good original condition except the rear derailleur is probably not original.

Hello again cmdavy,
She looks to be the Special model from ~1973:
R.S.C. | Bottecchia.004
fittings changed: saddle, pedals & rear derailleur.

The bicycle presented is an early seventies, best guess, Bottecchia Model Special...
I don't think it is of 1973 vintage, as this one is, which has very different chromed lugs...

If it's really been sitting around that long it probably needs new tires, chain, bearings repacked. Does it have sew ups or clinchers? I really don't trust old tires. At least change those out before you ride it.

Hello, Can anyone provide information about this Bottecchia I was given about 25 years ago. There is a serial number in one photo: 115540. Also a decal with names and a date of 1911-1961. Does this mean the bike was made in 1961? It's all chrome. The nut on the headset reads Bottecchia as well. It's got Campy drop outs.
