Need help indentifying 80s Schwinn road bike - Pictures included
Found this on craigslist and I've emailed the seller but he hasn't gotten back to me so thought I'd ask you guys about it.
First off - what model is this? I can only make out "Sport" on the tube, but not the first word. Along with that - any idea of the year? How good of a bike was this for its time?
Also, the seller claims it's a 22" frame but it looks larger than that... what do you guys think?
Finally, what would be a good price to pay for this? The seller is asking $165.
Here are the pictures:
Thanks for any help

Its a pretty basic World Sport. As far as sizing, sellers rarely get it right, take a tape measure with you. It looks relatively close to 22 to 23 inch frame.
It was a couple of steps up from the bottom. Decent, nothing special.
For $165, it needs to be totally refurbished, new cables, tires and tubes, ready to ride and spotless. I would consider that price to be full market, or slightly above market, depending where you are located.

Hi VR4, I think it looks like the Schwinn Letours era 1974,,,,,1976.by headlugs. I commuted on a steel frame and wheels for an extended period. If it has a 68MM bb shell width you can put a newer crankset on it. The rear dropouts were 120mm 0r 126 MM.
Measure the frame. The seat tube and the top tube. I was pro fitted in 1980 for 23" frame. When I finally got a 60CM frame and put my level on the saddle and measured it,,like from the nose of the saddle to where the handlebars. I would put my elbow on the saddle nose and have your fingers touch the stem. I've always seen catalog pictures of bikes. Seems they always show the saddle centered on the seatpost from a side view and its level. I also seem to look centered over the bottom bracket. If you draw a plumb line from bb spindle.

Sorry, its not a LeTour. If you look at the decal on the top tube, it is pretty clearly a World Sport. It is also much more modern than 1974. Schwinn decals alone were much different in the 1970s, levers were different, crankset was different. I think EjustE has the year pretty close, if not right on.
