Opinions on Bike for Girlfriend
Hello all!
I was just hoping to get some advice on a bike for my girlfriend.
The first is one I found last night that I found intriguing:
Vintage Women's Raleigh 45cm Road Bike New Tires,Tubes,Wrap & Cables
These next three are from another seller on Craigslist:
Peugeot Grand Sport
All original, and he will be putting on new tires (also told me it has simplex shifters). $150
Schwinn Le Tour
All original (besides the paint job I'm assuming). $150
Custom Fixie (built by seller)
Has flip flop hubs. $165
Which would you recommend out of these? Also, what would you say would be a fair value for each? Thank you for your help .

I am not entirely sure why the last two photos are inverted. I just checked the file location from my computer and they are both correctly oriented on my computer. Should I invert them on my computer and then upload them again? Sorry for the messed up photos!

With a handle nickname of LuckySquirrel, the OP may have a harem, ranging from 5'2" to about 6'0".

I told the seller and he said all bikes should work for her stature. She is 5'1", closer to 5'2". Petite stature. She likes the Peugeot, as do I. I do not mind doing general work (overhauling hubs, cleaning up components, truing wheels, etch).

Well in that case I would lean towards the mixte the other two are likely too big.

That peugeot mixte is way too big. You need to be 5'7" or taller for it. Also, the graphics say early 80's, but it looks like a cottered crank which would be 1970's.
The Raleigh is the best of the bunch, but if it were me, I'd keep looking.

Raleigh is the only one that'll fit. $230 for a tiny framed mixte with cottered crank, claw-derailleur and likely steel rims? Not even in the hottest bike market is this a reasonable deal.

+1 I would say keep looking all of these bikes a basicaly too big for five footer and none of them have the wow factor that makes one think that a great old bike. As for the pos Raliegh American it is the right size but kinda sucks.

Ok I'll definitely keep looking . What are some good, common models to keep an eye out for? I know there are way too many to list, just wondering what some of the better Schwinns, etch would be to look for.

That bottom one is a walmart 'fixie', Thruster brand. Your seller took the stickers off to 'build' it. It's a 100 dollar bike when new.
The frame on it is huge. I'm 5'3" and there is no way. It only comes in one size, big.
It's also the one that my fiancée choose and happily rides.
