Bianchi mega pro (steel), pricing help

No this isn't what I would call vintage, but no modern cyclist I've talked to can give me a concise idea, because it isn't carbon lol.

Anyway I would like to know what a 2000 bianchi xl would be worth. Just the frame, fork, and a Chris king headset.

Do you have any pics of the frame in question? I do not have a 2000 catalog but judging from the 2001 I believe the EV2 XL was a top bike in the Reparto Corse group. However value is strictly dependant on condition, location and desire. It may be in pristine condition but if it is a 63 only a few people may want it. If it is a 56 and beat up more people may be interested but will pay less for it because of cosmetic condition.

+1 Catalog page is pretty meaningless. Its all about the actual bike you are buying (or selling). OK, frameset, knock it down a lot. Buyers want complete bikes.

TIG welded aluminum with a carbon fork = there are millions of them out there. A lot of the value was in the components, which are not included.

According to bikepedia link you gave, its aluminum alloy. $400 is too high for me for just a frameset.

From bikepedia link:

Frame & Fork
Frame Construction TIG-welded
Frame Tubing Material Dedacciai triple-butted aluminum alloy
Fork Brand & Model Bianchi carbon
Fork Material Carbon fiber composite
Rear Shock Not applicable

+1 The value on this type bike is in the components. You can find realy nice basic tig welded aluminium road bike framesets for under $150. Last I checked there are some pretty decent ones new for this price shipped on the net.

Once again not Al, I didn't know if Bianchi steel would greatly increase the price. See pics above of actual frame

Yes, steel helps quite a bit. I think your estimate is pretty close, maybe $300.
