I would guess it's a 1988. No listing for 2500 in 1986. 1987 model came with Dura-Ace. 1988 came as a "Bike Kit", pretty much a frameset then pick your parts at the dealer. Maybe 1989, but I can't find much info on that one.

I don't think I would take less than $750 for that bike... but if you need the cash then go for it. Also, if you don't have experience and good feedback on ebay I would take the discounted price and sell it complete on Craigslist.
Search ebay completed listings for C Record components. Then you might realize (if you didn't from all the posts in this thread) that the value in this bike has nothing to do with the material of the frame tubes.

He now wants to only give me $450.
I told him I'd sell the brakes and derailleur.....wants to give me $250 for both the brakes and rear derailleur...
Is that a good selling price for those?
Thanks again guys.

It depends on how you view it...on ebay you MIGHT get a little more - like $50-$75 after fees - but you won't have to ship it this way or deal with ebay. I'd take 250 for cobaltos and the rear derailleur personally.

I would say don't on this deal selling the best a couple of parts will make the it nearly impossible to sell the bike at good price. Tell him it is $700 of the whole bike or no deal.

That's a no brainer.
If you take off those two parts, you are committed to selling the bike piece by piece.
Don't do it!

there needs to be more of these "seller stories" posted here on this forum. one, it's great info on how people are trying to buy and sell bikes, and 2, it's really interesting. like reality tv, seller posting high, buyer trying to talk him down. compromises made both ways. sadly, there is usually not a final post to wrap it all up. maybe that kind of thing exists on the forum somewhere, but interesting bike story nonetheless. good luck getting all you can for it.

I'd part that bike out, and if I liked the frame, 600 tricolor.
The parts have a wide and loyal following. The frame doesn't.
The parts will consistently bring their worth.
The frame has a small, small following, but there are people who like that type of frame.
I'm one, but not with Campy.
As far as the give and take with the seller? If he googles it and ends up here, you're outta luck.
At $450, it's a money-maker parted out, maybe see another $100 or more, a 25% profit, maybe.
At $700, it would be out my door.

There are alot of subtleties that will make or break the price...
1. Is the RD C Record and if so what generation? 1st? 2nd?
2. Is the FD C Record?
3. Are the shifter retro friction dopplers?
4. What brake levers are on it and what condition are the hoods?
5. Are the BB and headset C Record? The BB is easy to ID as the cups are aluminum. The headset needs to be dis-assembled to ID it.
As previously mentioned the vlaue of this bike is in the components. As a complete bike I wouldnt take less than $700.
Can you get more money parting it out? Maybe. Condition is everything when it comes to C Record, there's alot of it out there so its somewhat of a buyers market but its also a sellers market if your parts are in 9+ condition.
