Hey you don't happen to have a room for rent? And maybe a couple jobs available for my wife and I? :) What a beautiful place to call home! I love the PNW.

Funny - we had another college student move in yesterday to our guest room. She is student teaching this fall and her lease was up on the apartment so we offered to have her stay. The PNW is fantastic especially when you're on the "dry" side of it.

Okay guys, your rides and photos are getting tough to hard to compete with!

We did 71.0 miles on the tandem today. We left the house at 8:30. Couldn't ask for better weather, temperature in the mid 70's all day, blue sky, low humidity. First stop, unplanned of course, was at about 20 miles. We passed Hutchins Organic Farm and my sweetie asked if we could stop. Of course she bought about 20lbs of veggies that we had to carry for the rest of the day.

The barn underwent renovations for over a year and the sign disappeared, but eventually came back.

We had the good fortune to ride past that barn as the property owners were showing the barn to some friends. I thanked them for putting the sign back up and we chatted for a while. They showed us the barn's interior and told us a bit about it. IIRC it was built in 1769. I said when we saw the contractor's sign out front I'd hoped that the guy had a sense of history. They said oh yeah. All the American contractors they'd contacted were afraid to touch it because it was over 200 years old. The contractor who did the work was from Germany, and that was no problem, that he'd worked on buildings that were 1000 years old!

They had always inteded to put it back up anyway. In fact, it was a traditional assignment for the 3rd graders in the Carlisle school to research that sign. :thumb: A different side of the barn also carries this great sign of days gone by.

Just west of the suburbs of Richmond, Virginia, West Creek Pkwy business complex is big 6 mi out 'n back "horseshoe" shape off Patterson Ave. In the photo above, you'll see the twin duck ponds to the right of where the 288 expressway is shown. After riding the horseshoe all the way around, turning around and coming back in the other lane, I stopped at the duck ponds for a complimentary photo:

Yesterday's ride started around 5:30 p.m. in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston. Destination: Provincetown, MA, roughly a distance of 140 miles or so. ETA: 5:30 a.m. today. Here's my Lemond at the start:

That's about it for pics as it was dark for most of the ride! By the time I got home at 1 p.m. today, I had done 151 miles (took the 10:30 a.m. ferry back from Provincetown to Boston). I've done this route several times in the past, but always in daylight, which means enduring some high traffic roads on Cape Cod and a crowded rail trail. But between midnight and 5 a.m. or so, these roads and that rail trial were very quiet. Weather was great, too, until this morning in Provincetown, where there was a light rain and lots of wind, which meant a very rocky ferry ride back to Boston.

Hardcore!!! You guys are sick. :)
